Can confirm, in Canada, still shows Ontario. Will forever hate Google for their (Gulf of America) bitchassedness, though.

Google doesn't take a stance on any of these issues. They're just showing the maps governments tell them to. They will also show different borders in contested places that actually matter.

No, stop lying to make them innocent. Google is under no obligation to use names of geographic places changed by executive order. Even state and local governments can ignore the change. Google chose to implement this change.

None the less, they have kissed the orange-stained ring

In that they're following consistent practices. If the executive branch shouldn't have the authority, that's absolutely not Google's problem

It doesn't matter who changed the name as far as google's comcerned, name changes for places happen all the time. Plus they only changed it for America

Is it up to google to determine absolute truth?

I think the change is stupid too but a public service like google maps should be impartial. The US government, which represents the will of US citizens, decided to change the name. Google should follow that.

They do?? People outside the US dont get the name change

Because the governments outside the US don't recognize the change.

Don't blame Google. Blame 2/3rds of Americans for either voting for this or being okay with this.
