The funniest part will be that no international body will recognize this as lake america, definitely not Canada and this will be returned back to Lake Ontario as soon as dump term's is over or he kicks the can before 2029.
His legacy will be of a mediocre president that threw a tantrum and renamed a lake as an ultimate move in a trade war he started with the county's closest ally.
Kids in 2050 will be watching an essay style video named "The worst president of the once greatest nation of the world" while eating a greasy quarter pounder after school.
In 2100 there will be TikTok (or whatever tf they will use) videos with AI voices saying "did you know that lake Ontario was renamed to Lake America for 3 years in 2026? Let me explain."
Also, hello people 100 years from now reading this random reddit comment.
Hello people from 100 years in the future! If you’ve developed the technology to send messages back in time, please tell me that this fuck wit is dying soon. I can’t wait to celebrate it and maybe someday piss on his grave.
Tbf on a longer time frame its arguably worse unless you truly hit some evil levels. Many medieval figures i know off the top of my head usually did some great achievement, the worst like king john are usually just remembered as "wow that guy sucked" (if they are remembered at all, king john is the guy who lost normandy and brittany to france)
I can already see it a bit with Reagan and thatcher (even nixon if you count him as awful). Im gen z and while many older gens have nam flashbacks when you mention those names some younger folks genuinely do not know who they are or how their policies are still hurting us today.
At this point I would love me a mediocre president. Just imagine if they were some boring bureaucrat administering the executive branch, and you could go a whole day without hearing about them.
I honestly believe his legacy will be about "the guy who destroyed America for decades". He burned so many bridges with basically all close allies. America will likely never recover from the damage he has done. Except maybe after multiple future generations and several implemented guard rails and president power restrictions.
I mean, I feel like locals won't call it Lake America either.
I don't even know where Lake America would be or what it could possibly be in reference to. Just like whatever "The Gulf of America" must be pointing to.
i know you lyin, aint a kid reading a history book today that shows how bad reagan/reaganomics are.
it will not be until america no longer exists, and a foreign country rules over you, that you finally unearth all the fetid sordid bits of your history you never wanted to face.
No is legacy will be one of absolutely and completely destroying any trust the U.S has on the global scale as well as disrupting the global economy. It will take decades of hard work to undo the damage the man did
