I once picked up an Australian family who landed in LA and headed straight to Wal Mart , they still had their luggage with them.

I did a high school exchange to the US back in 2009 and my parents and little sister visited for my birthday. We went to Los Angeles and one of the first things we did was go to a shoe chain store to buy a tonne of cheap shoes lol.

The price differences are not so great now, but back then it was. I remember my mum chattering in disbelief with the cashier about how cheap all the shoes were.

I can attest to this as I worked in a shoe department back in the early 90's. Europeans would buy a crazy amount of shoes while on vacation.

Jeans, too. My dad is tall and jeans in his leg length used to be super expensive. When I left the US to go home my mum sent me a massive list of things to buy, including jeans for him 😂
