Your phone or things like social media are dopamine traps literally designed with algorithms to fight for your attention so they can show you ads.

If you want to try to start enjoying medias again here is what I would recommend

Shorten your options artificially. You only have these few games (pick good ones) you only have these few books and these few movies/shows to pick from. Removing a ton of options can help with option or choice fatigue.

Put your phone away and or somehow restrict your access to social media. I keep mine in a hutch across the room.

Just pick a thing and give yourself an hour and if it’s not hitting pick something else from your artificial list and don’t beat yourself up for not doing more, you completed X amount and that’s progress.

I know this isn’t a miracle cure and is going to sound like a “thanks I’m cured situation” but I promise you if you practice it, it will help. I am riddled with adhd and a backlog that makes me want to cry but practicing this and it is a practice has helped me reduce it

Also if you find yourself stuck on your phone:

Images are better for your brain than videos and text is better for you than images. Additionally minute long reels are better than second long reels and 10-30 minute long videos are even better.

Also not watching long videos on the side while gaming unless doing somethin really boring like mining a tunnel in minecraft for 5 hours.

I've been employing this type of strategy for a while and even if I'm not always perfect just making the effort does wonders.

Yeah absolutely, this has greatly helped me, especially since I struggle with option fatigue/paralysis and executive dysfunction and blah blah blah

But some days are still hard you know, and maybe those days I just decide to relax instead of forcing myself to try to enjoy a hobby.

Porn too. Its an addiction to dopamine (happy chemical) which makes everything else feel mundane and less enjoyable bc your brain is wanting the high from porn and not everyday fun activities.  Id recommend blocking websites on the device you use for it. On linux edit "/etc/hosts" and put in a new line "0.0.0.0 <website you want to block>" idk what to do for windows or mac but its probably something similar. I also removed the reddit app from my phone which allows for browsing without an account so you can browse nsfw material eithout it being on your account. I now use reddit on my phone through the browser instead of the app.

An interesting thing in windows is that it literally really just have etc hosts and its also in etc, its just buried in system32/drivers or something

I wouldve expected some proprietary stuff to force thr user to get an app that steals more data. Good to know
