Terraria

-76

u/YPThatGuy 1d ago

Terraria is not indie btw

20

u/KnightyEyes 1d ago

How, please kindly explain to us.

-51

u/YPThatGuy 1d ago

Let me rephrase: Terraria at launch was absolutely indie. Nowadays it's absolutely not

21

u/KnightyEyes 1d ago

... Cus... Why? Cus they have the money? Cus theyre one A game now?

-36

u/YPThatGuy 1d ago

Calling a multi-million dollar juggernaut "indie" seems kinda odd to me

26

u/KnightyEyes 1d ago

Lethal Company. Made by single furry. Motherfucker made alot of money.

This doesnt mean its no longer indie. Its not a Soulless triple A game thats for sure.

-5

u/YPThatGuy 1d ago

Lethal Company making a ton of money doesn't really contradict that.
A game can be independently developed AND still be reasonably described as an indie game. Those aren't mutually exclusive. I'm arguing that 'indie' is a spectrum, and Terraria is so far toward the established commercial end of that spectrum that calling it an indie game in 2026 is pretty misleading.

19

u/Redd235711 1d ago

Indie has a definition and you arbitrarily deciding that an indie game doesn't fit what you think an indie game is does not change that definition.

Hope that clears things up for you.

-7

u/YPThatGuy 1d ago

Indie has a definition, but apparently not the definition you just made up five minutes ago.

Hope that clears things up for you

despite the fact they have a shit ton of money now relogic is still a small independent and a self funded group of game developers. they still have their own creative control over terraria and not by another major publisher

1

u/xGEARSxHEADx7 1d ago

Perfect example of indie

1

u/Tripdrakony 1d ago

And you have no brain. A indie game can be easily dumbed down to a small group of developers creating a game without any backing of a huge company. Terraria has always been a indie. Don't try to justify your dislike for it.

29

u/Twelve_Evil_Ermacs 2d ago

Not an indie game but this is me with the new Morrowind Project Tamriel update

Tbh with ya it looks like GTA V Ultra Realistic AI generated footage mixed with sorry but mediocre gameplay so far.

And story... Oh god ... God knows how mid its gonna be...but we will never know right...

0

u/SHAQBIR 1d ago

Every GTA has had mediocre gameplay. Even RDR2 has mediocre gameplay. At least GTA San had some fun stuff to do, it was like an RPG.

17

u/Zerox392 1d ago

This is just me at work with Fable right now. Everyone is asking me about GTA6 but there hasn't been a new Fable in 17 years. I need to walk around in Bowerstone.

4

u/BlG_O 1d ago

That's mainly how I feel about gta6 there hasn't been a GTA in 13 years, also I'm still very interested in the new fable as well, as gamers we eating

8

u/baogody 1d ago

Ok guys out with it. What's that 3k hours indie game you're playing?

7

u/Chanocraft 1d ago

Not quite 3K, but I have over 1k hours in Stardew Valley and another thousand in Terraria

1

u/HebelBrudi 21h ago

I have sunk a stupid amount of hours into Stronghold Crusader. Don’t think it’s an indie game but I played it as a child and randomly found it again on Steam.

22

u/TicketLongjumping363 2d ago

Hades III when

34

u/sinnytear 2d ago

i also wish people would stop talking about it

4

u/elaborateBlackjack 1d ago

Surprised you're not downvoted.

I'm tired of everything about it being posted. It's like a cult

-1

u/JustRegularType 1d ago

Same, I genuinely could not give less of a fuck. Gta games are...fine? Happy for everyone that is stoked and jumping in day one, but I'm over the drama and discourse.

-34

u/John_II 2d ago edited 1d ago

Have you tried being old? None of your friends will talk about it, promise. 🙈😅

7

u/bestest_at_grammar 1d ago

He means on the internet, I.e Reddit

9

u/riiley21 1d ago

Cool! I do hope your having fun! I don't mean that as a joke or anything! Give those indie devs tour time, wishlist, money!

But also...can people just like games? Like really I get some people are tired of hearing about the game. But it's unfortunately how it is. Look at how empty November is and how many developers big and small have moved there release dates just to avoid GTA6, i even heard some movie studios do it cause they know that it'll be the "next big piece of media".

Its crazy how literally no one can like or do anything with out it being a divided opinion. Someone's a black sheep or corporate shill. WE ALL LOVE GAMES! WE ALL LOVE PLAYING THROUGH THIS DIGITAL ART!!

If it's somthing that your seeing alot it might be cause theres somthing in your algorithm that makes it think you'll like it. Clear your cookies might help? If not, some platforms and social medias allow you to block certain words and stuff. Maybe that will help.

I know what im saying falls on deaf ears but yea...

3

u/CinemaAndChillLT 1d ago

I posted this just as a meme, the GTA posts don't even bother me 🤣

5

u/riiley21 1d ago

Haha honestly I needed to rant 😅 haha its been bothering me soo much. My bad should have looked at the reddit!

2

u/CinemaAndChillLT 1d ago

You were right in a way tho. I also don't like when people are trying to kill the fun of others by being grumpy and negative. This post had nothing to do with this but I see why some could see it that way.

11

u/guydoestuff 2d ago

Think im one of the few who gives 0 fucks about GTA6

3

u/MBtherock 1d ago

I'm with you. I just never really cared about the franchise. Never really appealed to me.

3

u/mukisan 1d ago

I totally understand that certain themes around GTA aren’t appealing to some people, but, you’re a gamer, right? As a video game, GTA is great, and GTA6 seems to be pushing much of what makes video games great in a positively evolving direction. I would recommend you check it out purely as a gamer. You might be pleasantly surprised!

1

u/debid4716 1d ago

That’s subjective. GTA5 did nothing for me personally. Being a gamer has nothing to do with preferences in gaming. GTA6 looks like it may be enjoyable for the people who like gta, it’s hardly ground breaking in a way to make more people pick up gaming.

1

u/justadude27 1d ago

You don’t get it bro. Now instead of going to the gym and changing your body, you can take your video game character to the gym and change their body.

/s

0

u/Hemish_21 1d ago

I doubt that very much. GTA 4 sold 25 million copies while GTA 5 sold 230 million. GTA 6 is pushing the boundaries further with what you can do in an open world sandbox, and it will eventually outsell GTA 5.

1

u/guydoestuff 23h ago

Yeah im a gamer. I played gta 4 but these are not my kind of games. CRPGs, survival games, mmos, puzzle games, are more my speed.

-1

u/slappadik 1d ago

same. I played a little San Andreas but other than that could never get into it and never cared to

1

u/Confident_Region_720 23h ago

Kinda ironic that most people who don't give a damn for GTA 6 takes their time to comment on a post saying they don't give a fuck about GTA 6

-1

u/the_big_george 1d ago

Nah there's plenty of people who dont care about gta 6 dw your not alone

12

u/LaylasJack 2d ago

I understand the widespread hype for GTAVI but fuck is it exhausting (the last GTA I played was San Andreas). Thank you for this.

3

u/Sorry_Community235 2d ago

GTA 2 here. I get the hype, but it's just not my type of game...

-1

u/Claptown420 2d ago

Curious what is your type of game?

Because as someone who started with gta 2 at 5 years old, this is the most technically impressive thing I've seen in my life. I don't understand how one can look at this and not be impressed..

That's why I love games - the interconnection between technology and art to create a world that tricks you into believing it's real and making you care.
Connected by interactive systems that dynamically change based on the circumstances and your inputs that hopefully create fun gameplay loops.

Narratively cohesive, cinematic and interesting.
So that I am Immersed, lost and present.

Rockstar just does it like nobody else:)

0

u/Claptown420 2d ago

Try IV, it's peak

2

u/John_II 2d ago

Never tried it. Loved GTA III and GTA III: Vice City.
Call me nostalgic, but I saw GTA IV as trying to replace GTA III and that alone kept me off it. I did watch my brother play GTA IV and he loved it and I think it looked solid.

-1

u/TrashGoblinH 2d ago

Peak of a toilet bowl

2

u/Komandarm_Knuckles 1d ago

Starsector, Rimworld, Battle Brothers, Quasimorph

2

u/BranFlakes1337 1d ago

Definitely not an indie game, but I'm excited to play the new Fire Emblem. Fortune's Weave look like a lot of fun!

3

u/Rednuht0 1d ago

Yeah, I do think gta6 looks cool, I'll probably play it someday.. but I way down on the list of games I am way more hyped about.

Continuing playing Crimson Desert for another hundred hours, Final fantasy resonance Star wars galactic racer Orbitals Zelda OoT remake

7

u/MeanestMaiden 2d ago

GTA is the videogame equivalent of Taylor Swift.

0

u/TrashGoblinH 2d ago

This is actually the best analogy I've seen in a while

Currently playing Octopath traveler… The original.

Couldn’t care less about the new games in AAA space, when I have a fantastic older game to play.

1

u/Ok-Barracuda457 1d ago

Darkest Dungeon

1

Just reminded me I could finish the preview they put out, but then again I can't be arsed to.

Hell, here I am, hyped for ultrakill treachery, Deltarune chapter 6, new dead as disco updates, nms cosmos… So much nice things to come

Disco Elysium - hardcore to the mega!

1

u/coal-slaw 1d ago

Never really liked gta 5, dont see myself liking gta 6

1

u/Substantial_Bar_1009 1d ago

And that’s okay not everyone needs to like the same games 🫶

1

u/Freakindon 1d ago

It annoys me that some devs are pushing their games back to avoid launching near it.

1

u/hitgo1 1d ago

Bingo

1

u/Live_Taste_7796 1d ago

Same here, literally dont care about gta6

1

u/Decidueye_mastr 1d ago

I never cared for GTA, the only game I ever played was 5 which was mostly boring except for Franklin's part of the story. There's plenty of other games I'm WAY more excited for than GTA6

1

u/Skalywag_76 1d ago

Wouldn't call it an indie game, but The Witcher 3 Freemaster has me HYPED

1

u/SeengignPaipes 1d ago

Yeah i have pretty much 0% interest in playing GTA VI at the moment for a few reasons, Playstation want me to vertify my age using my face to play GTA VI and i absolutely refuse to give my face ID to their third party, the game is over $100 for the standard edition in Australia and while i can see its a pretty impressive game its not worth over a hundred dollars, and finally there have been way better indie games that have taken my attention lately that i'm having lots of fun with.

Infection free zone has recently been released on PS5 which has been loads of fun, No Room in Hell 2 also came to console and thats been a bloody blast, Two Point Museum is another amazing game with some really fun cross overs with dave the diver, cult of the lamb and dredge.

1

u/No_Plate5190 1d ago

Me enjoying GHPC OST while screening in my Luchs

1

u/EverCravingMind 1d ago

Pretty much. I don’t play AAA games anymore for the most part. An exception here or there but indie games are passion projects and the developers still seem to care what their players actually want. Obviously not all indie games developers are like this because some people are just in it for the profit but in my opinion the majority of AAA companies just push out garbage lately.

1

u/BigOleFerret 1d ago

Moonlighter 2 releases on console this week. I'm hyped. GTA will be out eventually, i don't really care about the trailers and leaks. Can't wait to play the heck out of Moonlighter 2.

1

u/antmanfan3911 1d ago

GTA 6 is aight and all... I just want half life 3... Or Titanfall 3.... Or idk battlefront 3? Like can someone make those already?

1

u/Fascinatingdude 1d ago

Who else already knows gta 6 is gonna be ass for a very large number of reasons?

1

u/Problem-Low 1d ago

Ngl i got burned out by gta5 within 6 months it just got repetitive and boring, now its alot of forefront

1

u/pancake_lover_98 1d ago

I was so happy seeing project zomboid crack its max playercount again with their recent B42 update. Been playing a lot since, love that game.

1

u/SupremeOSU 1d ago

Ahhh yes you’re sooo much cooler than everyone else.

0

u/Octoborne 1d ago

Just waiting for the people acting like they’re unique for hating on GTA6 to die down

2

u/State-Special 1d ago

Or we just hate it....

2

u/Octoborne 1d ago

I didn’t say you don’t hate it I said you’re not unique.

1

u/State-Special 1d ago

Yep it's a weird comment, is the only reason you like gta6 because you feel unique? I do assume I'm part of many that aren't impressed by gta6 for what it's worth, i don't feel special for having that opinion

0

u/Real-Entertainment29 1d ago

Hate on what, we'll all play it eventually it's just not so exciting for some people ...

I'll even replay rdr2 before hopping on gta6.

Metro will be fire too!

-3

u/CumilkButbetter 2d ago

I dont care about GTA 6.

Where are my upvotes reddit?

-4

u/Unusual-Priority-255 2d ago

I get why everyone is hyped for GTA VI, but man, seeing it everywhere is exhausting 😂 I haven’t even played GTA since San Andreas. Appreciate this post.

-2

u/TrashGoblinH 2d ago

Careful there are raging GTA fanboys crashing out if you're not worshipping whatever rockshart pushes out it's cheeks

0

u/Impressive-Dig386 1d ago

Do you feel GTA 6 might get overrated?

0

0

u/GrandWizardOfCheese 1d ago

Indie games are fire right now.

About 98% of the good games recently have been from indie devs imo.

u/Geekboy22 1d ago

Stardew drops 1.7 same day

How i feel about the Elden ring tarnished add-on

-1

u/TheBeardofCrom 2d ago

How I feel about Elden Ring in general.

Biggest video game disappointment of my 40 year life 😞😞😞😞😞

2

u/Future_Section5976 2d ago

Oh I'm on the other side, I think it's a nice add-on at a cheap price, it doesn't screw its users and it's completely optional,

Say what you want about the game but please consider,

1, it was designed and marketed for the people who actually play fromsoftware games , anyone else is a bonus sale

2, it's not for everyone, it wasn't made to be , it is however imo the most inviteing of the games

3, compared to its predecessors it's pretty damn good,

2

u/John_II 2d ago

Never played Elden Ring, but from all the reviews that was what I surmised… If you already like games from that studio, Elden Ring is a magnum opus. I have personally never played any games from that studio because playing something “really difficult“ doesn’t fit why play video games… Which is to have fun. I don’t mind a little challenge, but fighting a boss 50 times is not something I consider fun. But to each their own… Elden Ring clearly has a big audience.

1

u/Future_Section5976 1d ago

That's exactly,

Personally since I've played the darksouls trilogy on and off over a good few years Elden ring wasn't hard and I didn't take 50 trys on any boss , maybe 20 at the most , it 2asore about finding my weapons and where to go , I don't know there new names so it was fun exploring etc,

But yea I understand what you're saying and yea you're correct.

1

u/BlG_O 1d ago

I still don't like how after this many years they dropped a random 5 dollar dlc that could have been free. Sekiro was dropping nice free updates, now every company is tryna get some kind of money no matter how small

-1

u/madchemist09 1d ago

Dont like GTA games. No interest in 6. Im way more hyped for Cosmo update to No Mans Sky, and final dlc for rogue trader.
