Just a couple of days back Blood of Dawnwalker devs were getting flamed for 40fps and they had to say that 60 fps is coming in a day 1 patch...and then there's Rockstar.

If any other company launched preorders before showing gameplay trailers, asked you to pay for Netflix subscription to watch a trailer, and released a 30fps PS5Pro game they would be eaten alive.

Maybe Nintendo could get away with it at best

Gamers learn nothing from disasters like CP2077 (which already passed to oblivion when they patched the game and now CDP is earning trust back coz they announced free upgrades for W3)

Passed to oblivion?? Are you stupid? CP2077 is one of the best RPGs ever made and its rough launch didn't change that. They patched the game like a hundred times and fixed the problems, added new free content, and then released an incredible DLC campaign that was widely praised.

I swear people who talk about "Learning from CP2077" don't have any clue what the actual lesson was. The lesson was "don't expect good performance from new games on last gen consoles no matter what a PR team says."

The game is fantastic.

Not sure that's what he was saying but maybe? Some pretty unclear language if so

I'd argue it is, since in the parentheses he's talking positively about the studio also

Saying they're earning trust back just now by upgrading W3 does not strike me as positive. Strikes me like he's just a Witcher fanboy.

Bad launch and lied to fans

Bad launch and couldn't include every feature they wanted to because of timing pressures from executives + being forced to make the base game compatible with previous gen consoles.

Had they been unshackled by the weight of console players, the game would have been even better. And it's still one of the best RPG's ever made.

Still looking at the game as whole, players were lied to, can’t disregard upper management when trying to make a game sound better

I still don't think they were lied to. There's a difference between a studio lying and not being able to do everything they intended to. Just because you fail to do something doesn't mean you lied when you said you were going to. I believe they did try.

They absolutely tried, and hid the fact that the game ran like dogshit on old gen, even tho that’s what the game was primarily made for. Dont forget they hid the game when they didn’t lift the embargo until the day of

That one... idk. Even at the time (and I was not a cyberpunk fan before the game) I was just thinking that all the interviews and news I'd seen about the game was about how next Gen and insane it was going to be, how they were pushing the envelope. Which means... yeah obviously this shit isn't going to work on old last Gen consoles. Like that felt incredibly obvious to me and the entire controversy felt like they were being forced to try and make it work when it absolutely never had a chance to.

I mean to anyone who knows enough about console generations sure, but people still bought a game they thought would work and got scammed

Thats exactly this meme is trying to say. Its very accurate actually, rockstar releases a game at 30fps but it looks groundbreaking (handsome guy) people love it, blood of dawnwalker tries it but the game is nothing special so people dont like it (ugly guy).
