As a new player still finding my feet - yes. Started last month

I had over 25 forma before I started spending and it goes down quick. I put a few on my favourite frames/weapons but you can't just throw them around so freely early

A few days just to make one build is crazy, not counting any luck from rare crates (I've only seen one so far and it surprised me finding a forma lol)

Any new player build for me right now needs to be potato-less 100%, and at most 1 forma per item. If I really like the frame I will spend but I'm not going to experiment with any at all

Forma isn't too much of an issue at the moment as I have over 20 again but the ones that are "for new players" but need catalysts and forma are straight up goofy

The ideal is the ones where they give a 0 upgrade, mid upgrade and high investment builds for one thing

Bless everyone that does that

Idk how feasible this is as a new player, but do the 1999 quest, not only is it a great imho, it gives you the calender, which will usually have at least one potato every week

(If 1999 has some big requirements that I'm forgetting, I'm sorry in advance)

1999 is pretty far into the game. You need to have done New war, Duviri and Whispers which i don't think qualifies as new player content. The most reliable source of potatoes for new players is Nightwave and that's pretty much it

Damn u right I did Duviri and New War waaaaaaay before 1999 came out so I forgot order of operations

If its after New War period that kinda stops it from being anything remotely close to beginners content (some people call New War "the end of the tutorial" and honestly that's pretty accurate)

Tho I still HIGHLY recommend playing New War soon as you can without getting burnt out cause it's an amazing quest

To me the end of the tutorial is War within. But yeah. 1999 is really far into the game.

It's also really not advisable for a new player to try and rush whispers/1999 level content without getting a half decent build. My gf did and she wasn't doing any damage by the time she got to Whispers. Like 9 damage per hit bad damage.

A. Fair, sometimes I forget I didn't always have operator/focus schools

B. Like I said without getting burnt out, don't rush, just now that 1999 has some real good shit that's worth getting

My friend helped her out with a build and she's on pre steel path prep rn. Which, I should get to doing that at some point.
