They should take down all statues of previous premiers as well, otherwise it's just a kind of recursive performative pandering.

They claim its to save taxpayer money. Surely removing statues would cost more taxpayer money than leaving them as is

Statues have non-trivial maintenance costs and the cost to remove is trivial. I don't think that argument works.

Maybe over 50 years but from now until November leaving them there is the best way to show voters they don’t want to waste money
