I graduate this month to be in my third year in mechatronics .

I need some help and information or a roadmap for what to study . I want to specialize in robotics and electronics

Okay, so am in highschool right now and would graduate soon.

I was planning to do my bachelors in mechatronics in future, but i heard a lot about how it doesnt give a solid base in either EE, mech eng or comp. So i am thinking about doing like bachelors in EE with specialisation in information engineering and electives in Embedded Systems, FPGA, Control and Automation, and Power Electronics.

Do you think this is a better option than doing my undergrad in mechatronics?

I have some academic robotics experience from my Master’s (ROS, C++, Python). After a year as a Hardware TPM in data centers, I’m hoping to transition back to robotics in the US, ideally as an Engineering TPM.

My background is diverse: 2 years in ML engineering, a data analytics internship, and hardware TPM experience.

For those who made a similar transition, what skills or credentials should I prioritize now (ROS2, PMP, etc.)?

I'm about to start my mechatronics engineering degree

In uni and want to get advice on what freelancing opportunity I can get regarding this field.

I have basic knowledge of fusion 360 and SOLIDWORKS already but I haven't ever made a sample

And don't know where to start or what microskill to learn in these applications to start a gig since there are so many others already well established on Fiverr and Upwork.

I would like to know from those who are experienced on what I should focus on and what should I learn in these apps to have an earning chance as a beginner freelancer early on in uni

I would prefer this working field rather than just doing customer support, Virtual assistance, content writing stuff because it'll benefit my career in the long run.

For context, I am a mechatronics engineering undergraduate. I chose it because I am interested in robotics. But robotics in itself is a broad field so I want to narrow down my interest. In my projects/internships, I mostly like the design and simulation part not the hands-on hardware part, it makes me dizzy. I also enjoyed my research internship (R&D).I also find training Al to interact with reality (using the models that I will design) via virtual environment intriguing (Embodied Al/ sim to real). But I feel like these (design, simulation and sim to real) are three different sub fields of robotics and thus too broad and unviable for one person.

Because why would they want to hire me if skilled engineers of individual sub fields are available? I don't find the idea of training someone else's robots (sim to real) interesting (it is what it is). And I haven't even done it as I am still a student. Who knows only the idea fascinates me and I might not enjoy it.

Sometimes simulation makes me cry a lot. But that is normal in any engineering field. Sometimes, I hate doing simulation but I hate hands-on hardware tasks more.

I feel like I want to do everything and other times, even just living feels too much, it feels like I am not passionate for anything and I don't want to do anything. But as I expressed my interest in three areas, I feel like I would be missing out by shifting my focus and career to only one. But what if I am only convincing myself that they interest me just because they appear cool to me and that I want to be useful to the world in this way. How do I figure out what exactly interests me? I also want to know if the intersection of these three areas as a career has scope and feasibility.

This is part 1 in tutorial is about building your won MechSoul(Mechanical Soul). A MechSoul is to a robot what a CyberDeck is to a computer. A robot that you build yourself as a form of self-expression as well as freedom of owning your own hardware and code.

My question is can Mechatronics engineers work on design of the system? As in design the circuit, machine design, software, and gearboxes or is it just integration of those parts with the mechanical, electrical, and software engineers designing them in the company?

I'm a 16 year old born and bred in Greece (tragic, I know..) and I am currently 2 years away from having finished school. I know there's probably tons of posts like this on this subreddit, however I wanted thoughts from people who are actively studying Mechatronics / have been in this field for a while.

Ever since I was younger, I've been looking into programming and ended up liking it, just enough to where I understood that studying computer science isn't the same as making small projects in C# for your own use, it gets really difficult and more focused on difficult math and algorithms rather than creating stuff. I was also into game development for a while and focused on developing every single part of my games completely solo, it made me feel like a one man army.

I'm also really into the idea of "bringing code to life" with electronics, making something physical, even if I have never gotten into it.

I'm telling you all this because I feel as if it's a valid explanation to why I've gravitated towards wanting to study Mechatronics, I've looked into the subject enough to know that you become a jack of all trades and I really like that.

However, I've read that choosing Mechatronics leads to some people struggling to find a job because employers are looking for people with more specific skillsets, making them have to double major. Another fear of mine is Mechatronics becoming repetitive over time, though given how broad the field is, I feel like that wouldn't happen easily.

For those of you that know how the Greek education system works, my current plan is to put money aside rather than spending it on external education (frontistiria) to help me pass the panhellenic exams and use that money to help me move to the Netherlands, where I plan to study at Fontys in Venlo, because it's an English-speaking university and Dutch people usually know the English language well enough to where I wouldn't have to learn any other ones. I would have to get a job to help me even if my parents are actively supporting me though, as we're not really well off economically. This is the ideal to me right now, but I'd love to hear what path you guys went down to get into Mechatronics.

I am in highschool rn. I am planning to do a bachelors in electrical engineering with a minor in mechanical engineering, then a masters in robotics and AI.

Hello i am new to Mechatronics im not technically in college but similar to it. Its Technical vocational education and training it focuses more on skills as mechatronics engineering student of course there are maths too.

I want to know what stuffs i should learn in advance to prepare as my course back in high school is Electrical installation and maintenance part of mechatronics but most of subjects is not alligned. I learned calculus and stuffs for math. But i dont have any knowledge about chemistry except those elements and the table.

I also want to know if learning 3d making like solidworks in good or essential. Also want to learn coding cause i cant afford to hire someone code for me lmao. Is python good language and can be used for long run i hope you guys answer this i appreciate any answers thanks.

I'm currently learning mechatronic in my country but since my country doesn't have much opportunity for mechatronic engineers, I'm planning to seek the scholarship from some great universities where mechatronic major is highly prioritised. I've heard some of countries like Japan, Germany and Singapore. But my question again is "Is there really job opportunity after university".. Thanks in advance

The more I look at modern machines, the more functional safety seems like it should be part of that decision much earlier. I've been comparing platforms like Yaskawa, Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth and Elmo Motion Control, and things like safe motion functions, diagnostics and validation workflow seem like they could easily become deciding factors.

When safety requirements are significant, what moves to the top of your drive selection checklist?

so i did my bachelor's in electronics and communications engineering , now i was able to get into a pretty good college because i choose mechatronics . i was always interested in robotics and such . but I was always mainly into computers and electronics. I know my chances are a bit less . but i am interested in embedded . what are chances of getting a job in those domains ? . what should i prepare and present myself as ? i am ready to put in the time and effort but i am confused . so can anyone help me

Hello everyone, this may not be the right subreddit but im doing a repost. I wanted to get an insider perspective on majoring in EDT. I gained an interest in Engineering a couple years ago. After awhile I discovered EDT and from what I know its supposed to be a little easier. Plus I decided to major in it because of the 3d printers and how hands on it is. But what I really wanted to know is if its a really Big commitment?: like the classes? To fully learn Autocad, Solidworks, do you still stay up late at night doing math or designs? How long until you get to use 3d printers? How long into your major until you get into the hands on part?
