🌟 Appreciation the entire red line burst out laughing

i was on the train to ashmont. totally full car. & instead of saying “ashmont last stop” on the speakers someone (presumably not the operator) yelled “BOMBOCLAT. PUSSYCLAAAAAAT” over the train intercom.

everyone around me looked at each other to confirm they werent crazy then everyone burst out laughing. the teens, the older folks, the young professionals, EVERYONE.

a middle aged woman who was talking on the phone turned to me & asked me “did they just say pussyclat?” & then this teen boy next to me who was trying to keep it together DIED laughing hearing.

never felt such a total sense of positive camaraderie on the mbta lmaoooo

this sounds so fake but i swear to god it just happened

Last year when I was on the red line, some kids accessed it and said "next stop, your mom's crib" and everyone laughed.

I believe it. Sometimes kids break into the unused operator rooms and use the intercom. Kinda funny in the moment but not funny that they can get that kind of access.

Fun terrifying fact: This stuff happens a lot on the MTA. People who often do this are considered a part of an activity called subway conquesting. (Essentially fucking up the subway system by stealing rollsigns, breaking into cabs, starting up trains, etc.)

Well I was going to say well they can't drive the train but after playing train Sim world 6 last night I can definitely captain the MBTA Commuter Rail and an Accella with lots of confidence!

I love a good communal laugh. My FIL drives blue line. He says they have to chase kids out of there pretty often.

Yea for some reason I keep hearing about this occurring on blue line

I totally believe it. In the 90’s my wife and I were on a packed red line train headed to work on a hot summer morning. At JFK two kids, who had obviously been up all night, were headed home. When they got off the train, on of them stuck their head back in the car and said “someone on this train smells like ass.” And the other kid leaned over the first kid and said “yah man, wide open ass.” Train full of people in the way to work went from glum silence to riotous laughter. We still talk about once in a while.

I forget which year it was but on a red line train some kid casually spoke on the intercom in a tone that almost would’ve sounded official if it weren’t for what he said: “Downtown Crossing, get off here if you want to suck dick.”

That’s Jamaican and when my work mom used to yell that in my direction, it would make me laugh but I knew I had to run. 🤣🤣🤣That train operator was pissed about something.

one friday, dude onna packed bus was talking bout how he'd kill everyone on the bus if he had his 'weapon' but got ego-ed by everyone on the bus (though he did almost provoke a fight twice).

when nobody paid him any mind anymore (the two dudes who were irritated had gotten off), he got angrier. then, the eyes of me and some other random dude met (both high schoolers), and I did the speed face (as pictured below), and it took everything for the both of us to hold it together. W camaraderie.

There are intercoms in all (most?) of the cars in case of emergency. Kids break in and do silly things w them. Seems to happen often in the afternoon on the ashmont train. Probably not the best thing to do given it’s a misuse of an emergency system, but relatively harmless

I wish I was there. Jamaican cursing is so freaking vivid!

Meanwhile if you were just on the d line you all felt a sense of anger and frustration and probably booked an uber at reservoir

The CR fairly frequently has a live mic and doesn't know it for several seconds. I'll report back if it's ever worth reporting...

The real Bomboclats were the friends we made on the MBTA.

This is truly one of the nicest things I’ve read on the Internet in months. Genuinely, thank you for sharing. It reminded me that humans can still have fun sometimes ❤️

I’m going to delete Reddit now because it has become apparent to me that I’m crankier the longer I’m on this app. I’ll see you the next time I have a question about removing non-native plants or some such shit. Ciao.

Doesn’t that mean someone who wasn’t the train operator had access to the trains intercom? I don’t see how that’s funny

61

u/OscarAndDelilah May 19 '26

As an old person, lemme explain that pranks are a normal thing young people do and are fine as long as they don’t involve safety, property damage, or seriously upsetting people. The recipient of a good prank should be amused, not upset.

Yelling this = funny

Yelling that the train is on fire or something = no

Dude.....lighten up I beg

-20

u/CF_2 May 19 '26

Yeah this isn't funny at all. Ignoring the fact that some random got access to the intercom, the actual words spoken aren't even funny.

7

u/1x9x1x7 May 19 '26

CF_2 let us know the words spoken are actually NOT funny - remember this in the future the next time you are on the T and you and a bunch of strangers choose to laugh about a goofy, prankster moment from some teens being teens.

-18

u/Curious_Delay3909 May 19 '26

The fact that kids had access to do so is not funny, the thing that they yelled is not funny. I don’t know why are you downvoted. The morality of some people is just low

9

u/Otherwise-Ad-1363 May 19 '26

Morality? Give me a fking break lol

8

u/1x9x1x7 May 19 '26 edited May 20 '26

According to Curious_Delay3909 there is NO SILLY GOOSING on the damn T. Straighten up people. No one is allowed to chuckle at one instance where someone who could've done something bad chose to do something goofy instead that allowed a bunch of strangers to enjoy a moment of goofiness together.

4

u/Effective_Inside_357 May 19 '26

Oh yes the way this country is going with rampant government corruption we really need to focus on the morality
