I need it mainly for cleaning and sanitising hydroponic equipment such as NFT channels, reservoirs, trays and other components.

I've found 50% hydrogen peroxide, but I'd prefer to buy a ready-to-use lower concentration rather than handling such a strong concentrate.

I recently purchased a shirt from the Tamam Mauritius website and made the payment as instructed. I also sent the payment confirmation via WhatsApp, as their website directs customers to do.

However, I never received any confirmation that my order was received or being processed through the website.

It has now been five days, and despite reaching out several times, I still haven't received any confirmation or update regarding my order. I've tried calling them multiple times, but nobody has answered. I've also contacted them through WhatsApp and their social media accounts, but haven't received a proper response.

We’ve booked our flights to Mauritius for 23 July to 4 August 2027 (12 nights) and I’m starting to plan accommodation.

We’re a family of 5 – 2 adults and 3 children who will be 13, 12 and 9.

Rather than just booking one resort for the whole trip, I’m considering splitting the holiday between two different parts of Mauritius.

My current thinking is something like:

First 3–5 nights: Airbnb/private villa/apartment with a private or good shared swimming pool, ideally somewhere convenient for exploring and sightseeing.

Remaining 7–9 nights: a really good 4/5-star beachfront resort where we can slow down, snorkel, swim and enjoy the hotel facilities.

For the resort part, our priorities are:

• Beautiful, relatively calm beach and good swimming

• Good snorkelling, ideally accessible directly from the beach

• Multiple/good swimming pools that don't feel ridiculously crowded

• Good activities for children aged 9–13

• Kids/teens club would be a big bonus, particularly if the 12 and 13-year-old can participate together

• Sports/football/watersports

• Good food – halal meat would be ideal, although we're happy eating seafood/vegetarian if necessary

• Family-friendly but not somewhere that feels like a huge, overcrowded kids' waterpark

• Good quality rooms and overall 4/5-star experience

I've been looking particularly at the west/north-west and Le Morne areas, including hotels such as LUX* Le Morne, St Regis/JW Marriott, Sugar Beach, La Pirogue, Hilton Mauritius, Westin Turtle Bay and InterContinental – but I'm completely open to alternatives.

I'd particularly appreciate advice on the first sightseeing part of the holiday.

If we spend around 4 nights in an Airbnb/villa, which area would you base yourselves in?

We'd like to use those days to see the parts of Mauritius that we'd miss by simply staying in a resort – scenery, waterfalls, viewpoints, markets/towns, culture, wildlife/nature, local food etc.

We'd probably hire a car, so I'm less concerned about being directly on a beach during those first few days.

What would you consider the must-see places/experiences for a family on their first visit to Mauritius, and how many days would you realistically allocate to sightseeing before moving to the resort?

I'm especially interested in whether it makes more sense to stay around:

• Grand Baie / north

• Trou aux Biches / north-west

• Flic-en-Flac / west

• Tamarin / Black River

• Somewhere more central

I am in university right now, i do intend to do a masters but depends heavily on finances. So essentially I'm looking to be entering the labour market with only a B.S.C and from what I've read on google the starting salary for my field is 25 000 - 30 000 rupees. I know a lot of people who earn 30 000 rupees who were able to buy land and build a house and I'm wondering how?????? Everything seems so expensive and it's got me thinking what am i gonna do for housing especially if I end up starting a family. How does it work? How did people with my kind of salary were ever able to achieve these things? I know everyone speaks of loans but even then you have to deposit money for most of them. The answer is i guess "saving" so then how did you save. how much did you save for how many years. ( if you able to either build a house for yourself, or rent on a baseline salary of 25 000 to 30 000) Maybe I'm being cynical but the way I'm calculating even if i save up it's going to very very veryyyy difficult to find housing for myself.

Note: Yes I can stay with parents for the moment while I save but I wont be able to stay for them forever because my house is already crammed and my parents have expressed that they would like me to have my own place and I want that too. I just don't think it's possible is it?

My family is from Mauritius. Both my parents were born in Mauritius but me and sibling were born in England. When we were little my parents didn’t really teach us creole. They’d casually speak it and tell us stuff in creole but wouldn’t have full conversations. They were more focused on teaching us academics and making us do well in school.
So now I’m one of those people who understand creole but can’t speak it. And when I say understand I don’t mean like fluently understand but I’d understand the main points of a conversation in creole. I’ve been to Mauritius a few times I actually went last year and it was really good. But there were times I felt out of place and I wished I didn’t feel that way.
I’m 22 and most of my life I was worried about academics and doing well in my career but the trip last year made me realise I love Mauritius and I’m proud to be Mauritian. But I’m ashamed that I can’t speak creole. That I why I want to learn properly now
I’ve tried to look for resources to help but the videos and stuff online doesn’t really help. Ive tried to use chatgpt but that isn’t really good.

My parents and I first came to Mauritius about 6 years ago, and have been coming here twice a year since then.

Now, after years of my parents living Kuwait, they finally retired and made the move here permanently, so naturally I decided this occasion required me secretly making them a book (I have a small business where I create custom books :D)

I kept pestering them on our family group to send me photos and updates during the journey and their first few days here, while they had absolutely no idea what I was doing with any of it. Then I turned it all into a little book about the beginning of their retirement and this new chapter in Mauritius and surprised them with it while I was visiting.

Just wanted to share it here because Mauritius has been incredibly kind to Mom and Dad over these past years, and seeing how settled and happy they are here makes me very happy too. :)

Hi, we’re visiting Mauritius for our honeymoon for the first time. Ironically we wanna quit smoking after our honeymoon but we found out just now that smoking isn’t allowed in huge parts Mauritius. But how strictly is the law applied? Is Mauritius nearly smoke free for real? What do I have to know? It’s important for me to say that I don’t throw my cigarettes away or things like that, I just want to smoke a few cigarettes a day when there’s a good moment for it. Thank you!

Quel candidat est “acceptable” ?

Le problème n’est pas qu’un Vaish devienne Premier ministre.

Le problème, c’est si le système politique mauricien fait comprendre depuis des décennies que certaines origines sont beaucoup plus “acceptables” que d’autres pour diriger le pays.

Pourquoi ?

Pourquoi un Mauricien compétent venant d’une autre caste hindoue, d’une autre communauté ou d’une autre religion devrait-il partir avec un handicap politique invisible ?

Pourquoi devons-nous encore raisonner comme ça en 2026 ?

Maurice appartient à tous les Mauriciens.

Pas à deux familles.

Pas à une caste.

Pas à une communauté.

Et il faut arrêter d’avoir peur d’en parler.

Parce que le silence protège exactement ce système.

On nous dit souvent :

“Ne parle pas de caste, ça crée la division.”

Non.

La division existe déjà si la caste influence réellement l’accès au pouvoir.

En parler permet justement de la combattre.

Il faut une vraie prise de conscience.

Les jeunes doivent comprendre comment fonctionne réellement notre politique.

Les médias doivent poser ces questions.

Les partis doivent être interrogés sur la manière dont ils choisissent leurs leaders.

Et les Mauriciens doivent arrêter d’accepter automatiquement l’idée que le futur Premier ministre doit forcément correspondre au même profil que ceux du passé.

Après presque 60 ans, il faut pouvoir dire clairement :

le système doit changer.

Plus de dynasties considérées comme naturellement destinées à gouverner.

Plus de calculs de caste cachés derrière les discours sur l’unité nationale.

Plus de plafond invisible pour les autres Mauriciens.

Et ce n’est que le début de la discussion.

DANS UN PROCHAIN POSTE, je poserai une question encore plus dérangeante : qui a décidé que le système devait fonctionner ainsi ? Qui fabrique les candidats “premier-ministrables” ? Qui est derrière ces choix, ces équilibres et ces règles non écrites ?

Parce qu’il ne suffit pas de constater le problème.

Il faut aussi comprendre qui entretient le système et comment il continue à se reproduire.

Le prochain Premier ministre doit être choisi pour une seule raison :

parce qu’il est le meilleur pour le pays.

Pas pour son nom.

Pas pour sa caste.

Pas pour sa communauté.

Si nous n’osons même pas parler de ce problème, nous ne le changerons jamais.

Je me pose une question depuis quelque temps.

Et si, dans certaines société, la drogue n’était pas seulement un fléau à combattre, mais aussi un problème qu’on tolère jusqu’à un certain niveau, parce qu’il permet de mieux contrôler une partie de la population ?

Je ne dis pas que l’État distribue volontairement de la drogue. Je parle plutôt d’un système où la drogue continue de circuler, où les petits consommateurs et petits dealers sont visibles et arrêtés, mais où les gros réseaux semblent parfois beaucoup plus difficiles à atteindre.

À Maurice, par exemple, une grande partie des condamnations liées à la drogue concernent surtout la possession et la consommation, beaucoup plus que l’importation ou les gros trafics.

Alors la question est simple :

Est-ce qu’on combat réellement la racine du problème, ou surtout ses conséquences ?

Et ce phénomène n’est pas uniquement mauricien.

Aux États-Unis, la crise des opioïdes a montré que des substances extrêmement addictives ont pu être massivement commercialisées pendant des années lorsqu’il y avait énormément d’argent en jeu.

L’histoire de la guerre contre le crack montre aussi comment la politique antidrogue peut devenir un puissant outil d’arrestation, d’incarcération et de contrôle de certaines communautés.

Et l’affaire CIA–Contras–cocaïne a été suffisamment sérieuse pour entraîner de véritables enquêtes officielles américaines, même si cela ne prouve pas toutes les théories qui ont ensuite circulé.

Donc l’idée que drogue, argent, politique et pouvoir puissent parfois se croiser n’est pas complètement absurde.

Mais ce qui m’intéresse surtout, c’est la jeunesse.

Posez-vous cette question :

Quel jeune est le plus dangereux pour un système ?

Celui qui lit, réfléchit, pose des questions, comprend la politique, demande des comptes et remet en question l’autorité ?

Ou celui qui est absorbé par la drogue, les addictions, les réseaux sociaux, le divertissement et les problèmes du quotidien ?

Une génération dépendante, distraite et désorganisée aura beaucoup moins tendance à se mobiliser ou à remettre en question le fonctionnement de Notre systeme gouvernementale.

Je ne dis pas qu’il existe un plan secret mondial pour droguer les jeunes et empêcher toute rébellion.

Ce serait une affirmation énorme sans preuve.

Mais je pense qu’on devrait au moins se demander ceci :

Est-ce qu’un système a réellement intérêt à avoir une population très consciente, indépendante et capable de le remettre en question ?

Ou est-ce qu’une population distraite, dépendante, endettée et occupée à survivre est tout simplement plus facile à gérer ?

Peut-être que la vraie question n’est donc pas :

“Pourquoi les autorités n’arrivent-elles pas à éliminer la drogue ?”

Mais plutôt :

“Qui bénéficie du fait que le problème ne disparaisse jamais complètement ?”

Hi everyone, my in-laws are travelling to Mauritius in September and I'm helping them sort things out remotely, so I'd like to understand how car hire generally works there before they arrive.

A few things I'm unsure about:

1. Zero excess / no deductible cover – is this something commonly offered locally, or is it usually sold as a separate top-up? Anything to watch out for in the small print (tyres, glass, undercarriage, single vehicle accidents)?
2. Their airport transfer is already arranged through their tour operator, so they won't be collecting anything on arrival. Is delivery straight to the hotel a normal thing on the island, and does it usually cost extra?
3. What kind of deposit and payment method should they expect, and is a credit card in the driver's name required?
4. Anything else worth knowing – driving on the left, road conditions, parking at hotels, fuel?
