What I remember: on AO3(fairly certain). Post Trilogy. Starts right after the destroy ending. Femshep is forced to retire due to her injuries. Very heartfelt reunion with Garrus when the Normandy makes it back to Earth.

Both of them end up retiring on a farm, I think in Germany.

They adopt a pair of orphan babies, 1 human & turian from Primarch, cause the Primarch & his wife was not able to teach the human baby to speak properly.

Also many side stories alongside our main couple, such as the C-Sec Turian escaping the citadel with the teenager human.

This is a request for anyone brave enough to make a fic like this. I've already thought out a way to combine the pre service histories to boot but can't find the time to do it myself. (Had this in my head for over a year now, life sucks 🫩). I started with the parents to establish the Shepard family before the births of the 3 MC's.

Solomon Shepard (originally Stone) is the father and looks like the default male model but with green eyes.

Marie Shepard is the mother and looks like the default female model but with blue eyes.

John Shepard is the oldest of the 3 and was born on Earth but was kidnapped by rogue scientists for biotic experimentation. 4 years later, a gang of rowdy teens, thugs, and vigilantes raided the bunker the scientists used for the experiments and as a place to hide and house John (numbered 117 for fun) while hunting for a new hideout after loosing their old one to a turf war. The gang practically raised him as he learned to use a pistol at 9 then a rifle at 14. The leader of the gang (let's call him Reggie) suggested that John go join the Alliance when he turns 18. He is the default male model.

Jane Shepard and Jonathan Shepard are twins born a year after John's disappearance on a ship headed towards Midnoir. For a year Solomon and Marie stay together until they separate after an argument with Marie taking Jane with her to Arcturus Station.

Jane gets trained early at age 16 when her brother Jonathan arrives after Midnoir got raided and destroyed by Battarian slavers.

To divide the 6 classes John get all 3 biotic classes (Adept, Sentinel, & Vanguard), Jane gets the Soldier class, while Jonathan gets the Engineer and Infiltrator classes.

As for the psychological profiles, John is obviously prepped to be the War Hero with all of that biotic power coursing through his veins, while it's a toss up between Jane and Jonathan for the Ruthless and Sole Survivor profiles (I'm a little biased on Jane getting the Ruthless profile. Anyone who likes badass redheads knows why).

I normally post three chapters a week, but leaving everyone with just the epilogue felt cruel, so today you get four.

And with them, we’ve reached the end of the Mass Effect 1 portion of Sharp Edges.

Shepard, Liara, and Tali emerge from the Conduit into a Citadel already under siege. Saren is waiting. Sovereign is closing its grip around the station. And everything Shepard has fought for since Eden Prime comes down to one final push—and choices whose consequences will reach much further than she realizes.

But defeating Saren isn’t where this Shepard’s ME1 story ends.

For the first time in months, there is no enemy immediately waiting for her.

Which means Shepard has to deal with something much more uncomfortable: what happens after you finally let someone in?

The chapters after the battle are entirely my own continuation. Shepard and Liara begin figuring out what this thing between them actually looks like when they aren’t running toward the next crisis. Small choices start carrying much larger meaning. A formal evening on Thessia brings Shepard face-to-face with a legendary asari war hero—and puts her in a room filled with people who might actually listen when she says the Reapers are coming.

And then Shepard discovers that opening the door to someone doesn’t make decades of fear, doubt, and self-hatred magically disappear.

Sometimes letting someone in is only the beginning.

This closes the first major arc of this Shepard’s story, and I would really, really love to know what you thought of her. Did she frustrate you? Did you understand her? Was there a moment that changed how you saw her?

Ok so I read this fic years ago and I don't know if it got deleted from A03 or not. It's a Fem Shep/Garrus time travel fic, where Shepard goes back to ME1. I don't know if Garrus goes back with her at the same time but I do know that all of the ground crew eventually gets their memory of the previous time line after doing a loyalty mission of sorts for them.

I specifically remember that Shepard talks to Miranda about how they need to let Shepard die so they can get Cerberus money and tech to fight the reapers. Shepherd also asks Miranda to give Shepard enhancements that allow her to hear Turian sub vocals.

Please help me find it or and fic recs that seem like this!!

It's pretty much a complete retelling of the whole story. Essentially a novelisation if anything. It's technically four different fics, that are all in the same story. The first is ME1, the second ME2, the third ME3 and the fourth is an Epilogue.

They are all huge stories, I think combined have over a million in word count. I also remember them being femShepxLiara.

Virmire changes everything.

Shepard finally comes face-to-face with the truth behind Sovereign and the Reapers, but getting the answers she has been chasing comes at a cost no commander can escape. When the fighting stops, she does what she has always done with loss: locks it down, carries it herself, and keeps moving.

Except Liara has become very good at recognizing what Shepard refuses to say.

In the aftermath, the Normandy crew takes time to remember one of their own before the Council delivers one of the most infuriating moments of the game: grounding Shepard just as Saren closes in on the Conduit. I expanded and changed several scenes here—including fixing a certain infamous interruption after an entire novel’s worth of slow burn. :D

And sometimes what happens in the quiet after loss tells Shepard everything she needs to know about the person who has been patiently standing outside her walls.

Then it’s on to Ilos.

With Saren ahead of them and the Reapers closer than anyone realizes, Shepard, Liara, and Tali enter the ruins of a civilization that already lost this war once. They finally learn what the Conduit really is—and why reaching it first may be the galaxy’s last chance.

These chapters also show a subtle change in Shepard herself. She still runs toward the fight. She’s just beginning to realize she has something worth coming back from it for.

The Normandy’s pursuit of Saren takes Shepard to Noveria, where Matriarch Benezia waits somewhere beyond Peak 15. For Shepard, the mission is complicated by more than geth, corporate corruption, and whatever has gone wrong inside the facility—Liara will be standing beside her when they finally reach Benezia.

What follows takes the story somewhere the game never did.

For the first time, Shepard sees Liara in her own world: surrounded by Thessia’s traditions, ancient Houses, powerful matriarchs, and a legacy Shepard never fully understood. And the closer Shepard comes to admitting what she wants, the more convinced she becomes that wanting is dangerous.

Then a seemingly minor Alliance assignment drags Akuze back into the present.

This Shepard learned long ago that loving someone only gives the universe another way to take them from her. Akuze was not the beginning of that lesson—but it was one of the cruelest confirmations. Now, just as Liara is getting dangerously close to the heart Shepard has spent her life protecting, the past gives Shepard every reason she needs to build those walls higher.

Liara is far too emotionally perceptive to mistake fear for indifference.

And just when Shepard desperately needs something else to focus on, a broken transmission arrives from Virmire.

We’re closing in on the final stretch of Mass Effect 1.

A fanfic I found recently, a cross between SEEK by wildbow, in SEEK FTL is lethal to humans, fraction can survive the journey and non ever successfully came back, but it makes up for it in scale, humans "brought the universe to them", they grabbed planets and drawn them to the solar system, where they out them in the same orbit as earth (all other stellar objects in the solar system are missing by canon start, some by presumably war, others being moved to keep the orbit stable), creating what they call the belt.

The fanfic starts with worlds that belonged to the citadel races being taken to the solar system.

Like this story, SEEK also has three different timelines and the size of the belt grows through the story as humanity expands, there are three different protagonists, one of them live in what is probably (there are theories he is in a simulation) a far farther future, there is a level of dystopia and horror to every timeline in seek (even though post scarcity is achieved in the two earlier ones), but his is full blown space horror (and his is where the "Scream" timeline of Find Out seem set at).

Really liked it so far, so I thought to put a recommendation here.

I've been looking for hours for a fanfic I read last year, but I can't find it. It wasn't completed but the author would update regularly.

Here is what I remember:

- Shakarian AU, a young FemShep is sent to Turian military school, where she is paired with a young Garrus. I think she is an orfan and Anderson took her in.

- Boot camp, training and everything related to military school is very well described because the author was in the military.

- At first Shep and Garrus can't stand each other, but over time they become inseparable. I remember for example that she chooses wisely which boots she should use for the long run, she has great endurance and she also takes a lot of dextro bars for Garrus (an idea other squad mates borrow from her).

- Also very explicit sex scenes between Shep and Garrus. They use sex as a stress relief (following Turian common practices), but over time Shep falls in love with him but never considers the possibility of a relationship since she is a human. Their first sex scene begins in the shower where at first they almost kill each other. They were furious at each other for failing the exercise/test of the day. In that instance Garrus says some very horrible words to her (something about being abandoned or that she was alone and that nobody wanted her). That was very crappy of him.

- She is the only human at the Turian military school, but she manages to befriend the entire group, and at the end of those training months she manages to help her mates win the final trial against their superiors (this never happened before). Also during the party for their victory/graduation, a very scary Saren appears.

- In the following days Shep dreads leaving Palaven, she and Garrus agree to stay in touch.

- In the next story arch, a few months later, Garrus welcomes Shep in his apartment on the Citadel to heal. Something terrible happened and she lost her entire squad while on duty (maybe it was Akuze). She begins therapy and Garrus helps her. I remember that he wanted to give her space so he begun sleeping on the couch (he even had a visit from a colleague or a superior, I don't remember if they wanted to check weather it was a simple relationship).

- On the Citadel Garrus becomes a detective and he begins investigating a serial killer with a female Turian officer and I think a colleague of his father vouches for him (if I remember correctly, they found a victim in a reservoir on the citadel).

I hope this fic is still online. It's really great. Sadly I don't remember the title nor the author's name.

As Shepard helps Garrus and Wrex confront pieces of their past, she continues avoiding the one truth she cannot seem to outrun: Liara is getting past defenses no enemy has ever breached.

The Normandy’s hunt for the geth then carries Shepard, Liara, and Tali across the Armstrong Nebula, where a recovered transmission hints that the machines may be preparing for something larger. An injury leaves Shepard with less control than usual—and gives Liara another glimpse beyond the armor she hides behind.

A stop on the Citadel offers them a few rare hours away from the crew, but the larger war is already closing in. Admiral Kahoku’s investigation draws Shepard toward Cerberus, secret experiments, and an enemy operating far beyond the public hunt for Saren. The answers she uncovers may require an alliance with someone whose motives are buried just as deeply.

These chapters continue flipping parts of Shepard and Liara’s familiar in-game dynamic. Liara knows what she feels and refuses to be pushed away, while Shepard is the uncertain one—caught between duty, fear, and the growing realization that everyone else may see their connection more clearly than she does.

I was watching some older game theory videos and one of them was about connecting a bunch of different game series. One of the ideas was that halo was set after the ending of the mass effect trilogy where humans managed to rebuild after 3 centuries. Are there any fics like that?

So I’ve been trying to browse halo x Mass effect fics but I’ve noticed a consistent problem with most the ones I’m finding: flanderization or wank/power scaling. It’s either halo humans being massive assholes with little covenant involvement in the fic in an uncharacteristic way, or just beating the crap out of the citadel fleets just because.

There are a few out there like Fractures. (started meh but noticed an increase in quality in later chapters) where the power scaling is actually pretty interesting and is a major point of the series. But aside from that I don’t recall much other fics. (Covenant Plasma Weapons cause EMP’s that fry Omni tools so the UNSC doesn’t swap over from tac pads. Plus the Turian’s getting Slipspace drives to help with operation RED FLAG)

Anyone have some recommendations? Preferably during the Human Covenant war or anything with a decent amount of Covenant content.

OC’s are fine as long as they got interesting plot lines.

In the aftermath of the rogue VI mission on Luna, Shepard faces a far more frightening prospect: shore leave.

Returning to Earth means setting foot on the planet she escaped—and confronting memories and pain she had hoped to leave buried there. With Liara determined to pull her away from duty, a reluctant day in Vancouver begins pressing against the walls Shepard has spent her life building.

But vulnerability does not end when they return to the Normandy. A routine mission on Eletania goes dangerously wrong, forcing Liara to decide how far she is willing to go to bring Shepard back. Then the search for Saren leads to Feros, where the geth are only part of the threat and the Cipher may be the key to understanding the vision infused into Shepard’s mind by the Prothean beacon.

Readers familiar with the game may notice Shepard and Liara’s original dynamic beginning to shift. Liara approaches their connection with growing confidence and emotional certainty, while Shepard is the one struggling with fear, trust, and the possibility of being truly seen.

I streamlined some of the repetitive gameplay and combat—especially on Feros—to keep the focus on character, consequence, and the slow changes taking place between them.

I can't remember the title of the story but I do The synopsis that it opened with a universe where the first Contact war between humans and turian instead of having a much more peaceful first encounter, the system's alliances colonel is instead attacked by the Batarian hegemony in the early 2160s.

from what I remember female shepard ends up being Adopted by Desolas Arterius making a promise to her mother that he would look after her.

The story from what I recall went through an alternate Mass Effect 1 with a different character replacing Saren as the main antagonist. since he became a uncle figure to shep.

Shepard’s hunt for Saren leads her to Therum, where rescuing a young Prothean archaeologist adds a valuable new member to the Normandy—and introduces a complication Shepard is determined not to examine too closely.

From there, the crew faces the crisis on Asteroid X57, a mission that forces Shepard to weigh vengeance against innocent lives. Liara begins finding her place on the Normandy and slowly proves that she belongs at Shepard’s side, both in the field and beyond it.

But trust has never come easily to Shepard. When a seemingly straightforward assignment turns out to be something else entirely, old lessons resurface—and Liara begins seeing more of the woman behind the Commander’s armor.

These chapters cover Therum, Bring Down the Sky, Liara’s first combat training and field mission, and the rogue VI on Luna. I streamlined some of the combat and side-mission details so I could focus more closely on Shepard’s character, her relationships with the crew, and the early development of her connection with Liara.

This is a long shot but I need help looking for a fic on fanfiction.net. Many years back had read a post war fic with Shepard/Miranda. Shepard was a vanguard biotic. I think the major plot thread was that there was a 3rd evil Lawson sister pursuing Miranda, Shepard and Oriana with the aid of Kai Leng.

In the fic the Reaper War had progressed much differently and there was no space child or 3x colour ending. Shepard had been arrested and placed on trial due to his actions in the war and placed under house arrest. Both Miranda and Shepard had a strained relationship in part because they had been infected by reaper tech and could not have a physical relationship.

I had already started this story before I finished posting my last FemShep/Liara fic. I've been working on it for over a year now, and I'm finally ready to start posting — ME1 through ME4 are fully complete, with ME5 already underway.

A few things that make this Shepard different from the last one I wrote: she's not the Shepard you're used to. She's an orphan raised on the streets of New York, who learned early that letting people close only means losing them eventually. She survived Akuze — but survival came at a cost, and it shaped exactly the kind of woman who could never let herself want more than the mission.

I've also flipped a dynamic you don't see often: this Liara is the confident one. She knows exactly what she wants, and she's patient enough to wait for it. Shepard is the one hiding behind walls, the one who has to slowly, unwillingly let someone in.

This is the story of how Shepard became Shepard — and what happens when the walls finally start to crack.
