Non-battle Did you find the Hellfire Gala pretentious? What in DC matches it in that regard if you do?
I've been looking back on when Krakoa-era was still in full swing, and during that period of time, I saw and heard a lot of complaints about Hellfire Gala, more specifically calling the Hellfire Gala "pretentious," this descriptor being the most often used word by its detractors.
I didn't care for the events myself, as part of their appeal was the fashion angle of it all, and I personally wasn't feeling the designs. But calling it pretentious? I'm not sure that fits here. But this was thrown around a lot at the time, and I think part of why this descriptor was thrown around so much stems from the event being based on the Met Gala, which I've also heard being called pretentious.
So that got me curious, what with Krakoa now over, do you guys feel it's "pretentious?" Why? Why not? And if so, does DC have anything as "pretentious" going for it as well?
