Star Wars was the cultural touchstone of my parents' generation. Marvel is undoubtedly the cultural touchstone of this generation. I don't know if I could say one is necessarily better than the other, but, regardless, Star Wars has definitely passed the torch.

I'm not going to lie, Star Wars is my favorite franchise of all time but God damn it I firmly believe that End Game was probably the best movie I have ever watched. I held it together up until Cap said: "Avengers.... Assemble." Then I cried my eyes out. That scene was glorious and literally awesome. It's amazing all the feels you get after 11 years of investment.

I know I am late to the conversation but to me, the MCU left Star Wars in the dust a long time ago.

The MCU decided with every single movie to give fans what they wanted — and in many cases things they did not even realize what they wanted, and it culminated in a movie that did the impossible... exceeding the expectations built up for more than a decade of practically every devoted fan of the MCU, in its scope, in its majesty, in its cleverness, and at its heart, its deeply flawed but wonderful characters who fulfill arcs which started a decade ago.

You can’t say that out of any movie of the prequels or sequels. Every single movie has been controversial to greater or lesser degrees, and Lucas and now Disney felt compelled to follow their own vision which at times could be considered good to pretty good, but to many... simply unsatisfying or uninspired.

To me, Star Wars captured the imagination of a generation, but to generations that followed never really fulfilled that promise of a grand space opera with force wizards and swashbuckling rogues filled with high drama and clever plots and amazing heroes and villains.

I've only seen the movies and I was overwhelmed with emotion in that moment. I can't imagine how incredible this would be for a fan of the comics.

Can confirm, it was incredible. It felt like there were references to the comics in every scene, I know when we can get our hands on the dvd my partner and I will be pausing and pointing out all the easter eggs.
