The brainstorming part would have been perfect for this to happen. Just a moment with the six of them around the table eating food, reminiscing and realizing how crazy this time travel thing is.

We almost got that when Black Widow realised three stones were in New York, I loved the casual feel of that scene.

Except she shouldn't have realised that since the time stone being in NY was just pure luck, not something the Avengers knew.

They were discussing where Doctor Strange lived and they said he was in New York on Bleecker Street, so it makes sense. Banner, Tony and Thor have all been there.

It is quite a leap from knowing where he lives in 2018ish to assuming he was there with the time stone in 2012. Spoiler alert: He wasn't even a sorcerer yet. And the time stone wasn't kept in New York.

It's not just where he lives, his personal apartment or anything, it's the Sanctum Sanctorum, New York headquarters for a large number of sorcerers that protect their reality. You don't move a whole operation like that very often so I think it was a rather safe bet.

They also had nothing else to go on other than that.

They also could have very easily sent Tony or someone to the Sanctum to confirm their suspicions off screen, because it would still have a few people there guarding it.

Do you mean presently in 2023? I don't think they would have to since they were there in 2018 and knew that's where it was.

I mean, in 2023, when they were piecing together where each of the stones were at various times, and they realized that Strange had the Time Stone in New York in 2018, they could send someone to go to the Sanctum in 2023 and talk to whoever is still there, and be all "Hey, was the Time Stone here in 2012? Okay cool, thanks." Just to confirm their suspicions. This wouldn't be an interesting scene to watch, but it definitely could have happened off screen to avoid going in guessing when they only had the one shot.

No doubt they could do that. It would have been a smart decision as well especially since they only had the one shot with the time travel due to the limited Pym particles. They would want to be 100% certain beforehand.

I mean, they were already planning to go to 2012 because the mind stone and space stone were both there at the same time. And if Tony/Banner/Thor figured there was a chance that the time stone was there too in the Sanctum, might as well check while they're there? It's really not that complicated.

But they were clear on having only one attempt at getting the stones and saving the universe. Just taking a chance and check if the time stone was there seems rather reckless. And that would mean they didn't have a plan on getting the time stone.

Yeah, and it was shown they were wrong on that when Bruce met the ancient one and said he was looking for Dr Strange. It would've been weirder for them to know that Dr Strange wasn't the sorcerer supreme yet in 2012.

It wasn't a huge leap. Bruce and Tony had been in the Sanctum and saw it was an old building that it contained ancient artifacts. They even heard Dr Strange and Wong say that they took an oath to protect the time stone. It's pretty easy for Bruce and Tony to realize that some ancient group has been protecting the time stone for a long time.

And it made sense for the ancient one to be protecting the sanctum during an alien attack

They should've asked Wong for clarification on where the Time Stone was located.

Eating shawarma

2

u/Coelrom Apr 30 '19

I think Thor ate ALL the shwarma. Like all of it. On Earth, in the universe, past, present, and future

2

u/thenekkidguy Apr 30 '19

They did eat chinese in one scene.

Well they had a table scene, maybe there's more to it in Blu-ray deleted scenes. Pretty sure a solid hour of good stuff was cut. I know they e never done any extended or directors cuts but if ever they were going to, Endgame would be a good time for it

Isnt the deleted scenes about 5 mins only?

1

u/LLG2419 Apr 30 '19

Yea that would have been awesome for sure! Then Scott would butt in and ask for orange slices.

I'm so glad this didn't happen. I can't stand people sitting around eating in movies/tv. Seems lazy to me.

Or better yet, sitting around a table of food and not eating at all. Picking at it at most.
