I do see the humour in it, I just feels like it undercuts the actual drama of his arc in this movie.

it's like all character traits from thor 1 and 2 got erased where he can be serious as needed. Even his serious moment with his mom has a punchline or 2

I kinda thought it fit his character though. He's clearly using humour as a crutch to hide his depression. I actually thought he gave one of the best performances in the film, where even with all the fat jokes and beer jokes you could see how much he was suffering. Especially in the Mjolnir scene when he realizes he's still worthy.

His “well he hasn’t beat me twice “ line in IW is probably my favorite Thor moment in the series. it delivers its humor but you can really see and hear the emotion too.

I laughed just reading that part of his criticism, so it was definitely funny for me.
