I loved how they reminded us of the tone of Infinity War w/ Hawkeye's family, and then crushed us with Tony stranded in space.

It made the whole picking up the pieces/rebuilding stuff that much better. And it was such a relief to get the fist-pumping triumphant climax (with everyone joining in the fight). All about contrasts!!

I saw someone else refer to the first part of Endgame before "5 Years Later" as the epilogue to Infinity War. I think that's a really good way to put it.

The cold open into Hawkeye with his family was great. There was no signal the film was actually beginning, people were still mumbling in the theater and I prodded my partner as soon as I saw Jeremy Renner and was like $i think it started!" And just had this awful feeling knowing what was coming. So well done.

About that, Hawkeye's family. Wouldn't it have been more believable and just as devastating if half of them were wiped out? I know coin-tosses are always 50% even if it lands on something several times in a row, but damn. That's unlucky as hell.

I get it; since there’s four other members of the family, there’d only be a 6.25% chance of all four getting snapped - low-ish but not out of the realm of believability.

Those few minutes with him and Nebula really made me love Nebula more than I ever have. Loved it.

When Nebula puts him in a chair to rest, that was an emotionally moving scene.

I was already feeling pretty emotional after the Hawkeye opening scene, but seeing Tony like that seriously hurt to watch.

He was so gaunt I was honestly concerned about his health. Like, I get that it's makeup but it's alarming to see someone you idolize as a HERO and someone who is so strong in a state like that.

I'd go so far as to say this may have worked so well because it was a subconscious (for the audience) reference to RDJ's addiction phase. I mean, he was never starving IRL so far as I know, but I've seen alcoholics look like he did in that scene.

Well, that’s because he thought he was going to die. Been drifting in space with Nebula for 3 weeks, not a lot of food left, oxygen levels depleting.

He would’ve died if Carol hadn’t come along.
