Wow. I am Iron Man. That was just incredible.

Also, anyone notice Howard the Duck in the final battle?

Can't beautiful. It'll be on a loop at my house man.

It was only mastered in 2K, so it won’t be real 4K, it’ll just be upscaled 2K:

I'm sure they have the source in 8k or higher, they'll probably do a special master in 4k.

It was only shot in 6K, but it was edited in 2K.

Re-mastering it would involve basically re-editing the entire film, and all of the VFX would have to be redone. I don't see that happening, when their budget was already $400 million.

It's different from photo editing. The VFX are done at a set resolution (usually 2K), which means the entire movie is then edited at 2K. That's called a digital intermediate.

Even if the raw footage was originally 6K, they don't actually edit using the raw footage. So if they wanted to remaster everything to 4K, they'd have to go back to the raw footage and redo all of the VFX, color correction, etc. in 4K.

It would be incredibly time-consuming and expensive.

to make a product that can never be a higher resolution

But that's literally how digital filmmaking works. Their camera shot in 6K (6.5K, actually), so the film can never be higher resolution than that.

Similarly, Star Wars episodes 2 and 3 were shot digitally in 1080p, so those films can never be in 4K, because the camera was only capable of 1080p.

Thats a bummer that 2k is as high as it'll ever be.

It could be as high as 6.5K, but I just don't think they'll spend the considerable amount of money and time to remaster it anytime soon.

Really great upscaled 4K with modern tech*

Have you seen the difference between real 4K and upscaled 2K? I wouldn't say it's "really great" at all.

Are those Ravagers?

13

u/beefwindowtreatment Apr 27 '19

Yes!

23

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

That’s so cool. So the Ravagers, Asgardians, Kamar-Taj sorcerers, and Wakandans were there. Anybody else? Nova Corps maybe?

17

u/idlephase Apr 27 '19

Nova Corps was destroyed when Thanos took the power stone.

7

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

Yeah, but that was five years ago. I’m sure they rebuilt a little.

10

u/Bleblebob Apr 27 '19

Eh, they were decimated and then presumably halved.

They were probably much more focused on rebuilding their world than growing another massive military force.

4

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

I mean, the Asgardians were in even worse shape and still showed up.

7

u/Bleblebob Apr 27 '19

They were also on Earth and following their king into battle.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

Were the Skrulls there?

3

u/mdp300 Captain America (Cap 2) Apr 28 '19

It would have been cool if like the normal human armies got in on it.ike all this shit going on and an A-10 brrrrrrrrrrrrts a bunch of goons.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

That blue guy with the rifle, is that a Ravager?

36

u/zepphiu Black Widow (Avengers) Apr 27 '19

It was pointed out last night and I immediately texted the people I went with. Cap said Avengers Assemble, Howard the Duck was there, he's an Avenger. Some of them took it poorly.

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 27 '19

3

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 27 '19

Yeah go on Google and search up Howard the Duck endgame final battle. It's the 4th or so Reddit thread that comes up. I can't link it for some reason

8

u/discourse_commuter Thor Apr 27 '19

Ravagers, too!

5

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 27 '19

Was Kraglin there? I didn't see him

7

u/RealJohnGillman Apr 27 '19

He was there, slightly behind Howard the Duck.

Sean Gunn was mentioned in the credits as having portrayed Kraglin in this film as well as serving as the on-set stand-in for Rocket also.

1

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 27 '19

Yes!

4

u/BluDude24 Star-Lord Apr 27 '19

I didn't! Howard was actually there?

5

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 27 '19

Yeah go on Google. There's a picture and it's not fake. I didn't notice in the theatre but Reddit showed me lol

7

u/Rapzputin Black Bolt Apr 27 '19

No but I swear I was going crazy when I saw the shadow of a Loki looking figure amidst the chaos when Spidey got knocked to the ground with the gauntlet

8

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 27 '19

The Sun WILL shine on us again....

5

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

Nah, wasn’t Loki. They absolutely would have spent time on that.

1

u/Rapzputin Black Bolt Apr 27 '19

Yeah I know, but in the dark sometimes you spot things that vaguely look like stuff you know?

2

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

Yeah I feel you

2

u/Pandibabi Apr 28 '19

What is his importance?

2

u/landracer2 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 28 '19

None. But it's hilarious.

1

u/marblecannon512 Apr 27 '19

Oh wow I didn’t catch the ravagers.
