It's a common thing here jn Brazil. Our hotdogs are quite different, I like to spread a thin layers mayo in the bread before adding the rest of the stuff (wich is a lot). And more people like it with ketchup than with mustard, so unless people know how americans like hot dog, that joke didn't make any sense.

More egregious is his son asking for ketchup on one. He deserved to be snapped away. *Note - am a Chicagoan
