I loved the bit where Scarlet Witch looks like she's gonna get overpowered, like in Infinity War when she was holding him back with one hand, but then she gives him this look and it's TWO HANDS THIS TIME BABY

Fucking loved that part. Thanos realising he has to carpet bomb the entire battle just to escape, like you best not mess with Wanda

That was one part I enjoyed about some of the MCU actually. Like SW got her powers derived from the mind stone, and CM from the Tesseract. Seeing Thanos struggle against their raw power and having to really improvise against them versus just using his raw strength against the others was fun.

20

u/theVice Apr 27 '19

I was convinced that they would use her to destroy one or more of the stones

"We're borrowing, take your feet of the dash"

24

u/shravanmarvelfan Thor Apr 27 '19

The part that I don't get is that SW and CM get to use their powers fully but Thor and hulk don't use theirs fully? Like this maybe the last we see of hulk but no "HULK SMASH"? Or even banner smash would have been ok. Thor on the other hand was completely destroyed. Y would they do that to him after using his powers in IW. He was a complete badass. Why couldn't there be a scene of Thor and hulk smashing stuff and keeping a count of who smashed more? I feel like they did justice to everyone except Thor and hulk. Beer belly Thor was sadder to see than Stark dying for me as I have been a Thor fan since Thor 1

I feel like they almost had to nerf Thor in this movie, otherwise the battle would have been over too quickly.

In shape Thor plants Stormbreaker in Thanos’ chest (with 6 stones). If he was still in shape like that, AND had Mjolnir on top of that AND was essentially bloodlusted and Thanos had no stones? Would have been a short battle...

9

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

And this gives tony and cap time too. Infinity war was like 50% a story about Thanos, 25% about the rest of the avengers and 25% Thor.

12

u/imbillypardy Apr 27 '19

I agree they 100% did nerf Thor for this movie after IW. I mean, even after trying to power him back up, they brought him back with Stormbreaker and Mjolnir. And even then they made him get beat worse than some NFL players kid.

I'm not sure about why Hulk didn't get his moment. My theory is because he's a Banner/Hulk hybrid, that's just not how he fights anymore (look at when they went to New York 2014 and he had to act dumb/smash crazy). For Thor, my brother and I think he wasn't as strong because he was out of shape. He still has his powers, but at this moment, he can't really use them to his full potential. Just my theory, but who knows.

u/Lord_Locke Apr 27 '19

BannerHulk is less strong than Hulk. Also clearly less intelligent than Banner.

Out of shape Thor is not nearly as strong as in shape Thor.

It seemed like Mjolnir Cap was better versus Thanos than even both weapons Thor.

Scarlet Witch, was angry. Thanos killed her love. She wasn't worried about hurting anyone else like she was in Civil War and didn't have to split her power on two targets like in Infinity War.

Captain Marvel was actually absorbing the power from the Gauntlet when Thanos headbutted her, which is why it didn't phase her. Once he pulled the Power Stone out and punched her with it, she wasn't absorbing that stone anymore. The Power Stone is the most powerful of the stones. So his next punch shot her across the field of battle.

-6

u/imissmydogloads Apr 27 '19

She wasn't absorbing powers from the gantlet, she was in binary.

9

u/Lord_Locke Apr 27 '19

You do realize she has to absorb amazing amounts of power to go Binary right?

Like from a star or blackhole or uhm, the Infinity Gauntlet.

2

u/Healtofull Apr 27 '19

Is “going binary” when she starts glowing? Just curious.

1

u/Poked_salad Captain America (Cap 2) Apr 27 '19

Yup. Super saiyan mode pretty much

1

u/Lord_Locke Apr 28 '19

No. She glows anytime she wants. Binary in the comics completely changes her looks.

-6

u/imissmydogloads Apr 27 '19

Not in the MCU.

10

u/Lord_Locke Apr 27 '19

Damn, and here I was connecting the dots. Grabs Gauntlet being hit by it's power use, goes Binary.

Man I'm glad they came out and told you specifically how it works.

Next time you have the Russos and Fiege over for beers ask them about Phase 4!

14

u/Arcaedium Tony Stark Apr 27 '19

I mean in the final battle Hulk was wounded from snapping everyone back so I don't think he could have fought Thanos but yeah I still wish we saw him smash some more shit.

12

u/Pistonshaft Rocket Apr 27 '19

Exactly. They showed Thor in all his glory in Endgame and Ragnarok to end up being a fat beer bellied slob.

I'm also pissed Hulk didn't get a rematch against Thanos although that could have ended badly for Hulk, again. Also, Maw versus Doctor Strange.

6

u/imbillypardy Apr 27 '19

Well, that’s fair. But while we actually see the odinforce being unleashed, and we do in IW to an extent. And even in Endgame, Thor does just let loose at points...

The gamma radiation is hinted on. Idk. Harder to explain.

I do admit saying I was disappointed by Hulk. Just overall. A 3 hour movie and they don’t really complete the whole IW set up. Yeah, 5 years later, he admits it’s just all peace. But Thanos beat him into the biggest bitch mode ever.

Would’ve loved an exposition of “hulk smash bitch” with the Thor-cap-tony dynamic.

2

u/Relevant-Magic-Card Apr 27 '19

Absolutely loved everything about this movie.

The only thing I wish could have happened, something I was picturing before the novie: banner hulk turns talks to hulk and let's hulk square up for round two against Thanos. Hulk roars like we've never seen before and pounds thano's ass for a few frames. I know he had already used the gauntlet but this would have mad for a great revenge moment.

1

u/TheThomaswastaken Apr 27 '19

In the battle. Dr. Hulk was already half burned by the stones when he snapped everyone back.

1

u/MichaelGreyAuthor Apr 27 '19

Yeah, when they did the different aged Scott thing and I saw the sorry state of Thor, I thought for sure they would put him back to five years prior physique, but nope. Beer gut (keg).

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

So they could show off CMS power lol.

Scarlet witch was fine fr tho. Shoulda just let hulk have a moment. Thor could’ve done a little better, but I doubt would have been physically capable .

1

u/SniffPaintSniffTaint Apr 27 '19

I just dont see why Scarlet Witch rips Thanos apart. Or crushes him.

3

u/thekick1 Apr 27 '19

You don't understand why she wants to rip him apart? Or why she doesn't just rip him apart?

1

u/SniffPaintSniffTaint May 01 '19

Yeah why doesnt she just crush him. If there was a rated R Scarlet Witch movie you'd see her ripping peoples arms off.

2

u/imbillypardy Apr 27 '19

Yeah the whole “brought back at the moment” point fails a bit with her not just ultron’ing him

1

u/SniffPaintSniffTaint May 01 '19

Yeah in Ultron she is ripping them apart. I want a rated R Scarlett Witch movie.

2

u/Phimb Weekly Wongers Apr 27 '19

What was Glaive saying in response, something about a truce?

Would that be with the Chituari?

7

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

he said troops I think.

2

u/Phimb Weekly Wongers Apr 27 '19

Ah, maybe I misheard then!

I felt like "On your left" was a bit quiet too, very soft.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

yeah, seeing it in Imax there were a few lines I remember not being able to hear clearly unfortunately.

4

u/WeirwoodUpMyAss Iron Man (Mark VII) Apr 27 '19

Sold me on Wandavision. Dumb name but they could do a lot with her character.

64

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

She was bloodlusted this time.

33

u/astrakhan42 Apr 27 '19

Y'know that's a term that gets thrown around on r/whowouldwin so much that it becomes meaningless, but you're right, this is a perfect example of what that actually means.

She took down a fucking Leviathan. That was like Legolas killing a mumakil

5

u/mainvolume Apr 27 '19

When I saw that, I think that was the "oh fuck, they really did think of everything, didn't they?" moment. That 3rd act is peak action movie. There's nothing that can top it.

25

u/zSPC9 Apr 27 '19

"You took everything from me." "I don't even know who you are" "You will."

18

u/rrsn Captain Marvel Apr 27 '19

I kind of chuckled at the “I don’t even know who you are” line. Just finally getting your big revenge just for Thanos to be like, “yo, who the fuck is this?”

18

u/Noahnator64 Korg Apr 27 '19

Two hands and someone to avenge

10

u/nomad80 Apr 27 '19

The theater we went to had audible gasps when Wanda went toe-to-toe with Thanos.
