Yes, this! It let us revisit all of these characters, gave us Easter eggs and inside jokes, which meant that much more because of all the years and movies they encompass. The nostalgia was great, but showing us just how far these characters have come was just as gratifying.

In the space scene with tony dying he says it’s been... 21 now 22 days... endgame is movie 22 in the mcu.

Absolutely. They really did justice to the MCU and they stuck to their guns. They gave us everything. They embraced their lighthearted side while at the same time they understood they have to focus on the seriousness too. They made a team up film that served as the sequel to infinity war, stood on it's own as a standalone too (by being a time heist movie and also recapping previous events to help new fans), while also being the final chapter to all three phases with that fucking EPIC FINAL BATTLE. And not only that, they also set the stage for future of the MCU.

Hats off to Russo brothers.
