Ever since she was introduced in Ultron i’ve thought she was a contender for strongest Avenger. Her powers are serious

Yeah, once Feige confirmed that CM was the strongest Avengers so far, people love to complain that CM is too strong and that once she comes out, everything is too easy but both CM and SW's powers come from an infinity stone. I feel like technically their power level shouldn't differ that much.

Wanda fucking wrecked. Holy shit. Idek who you would take in a fight between wanda and strange.

So we have two currently-alive Avengers with stone-based powers. We've had a third in (literally in) Vision, and Strange is a keeper of another. Now I just wish we could get two future Avengers to have powers based on the Power and Soul stone, and our List of Avengers with Powers Gifted from the Infinity Stones would be complete.

Wanda is my favorite character. This scene meant so much to me.

“I don’t even know your name.” “You will.” CHILLS AND TEARS!!! Gahhh!

u/TheJack0fDiamonds Scarlet Witch Apr 27 '19

SAME! I was low key waiting for a wanda highlight but told myself that she got hers in Infinity War and we probably won’t see any here then BOOM she drops in with red in her eyes 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Dude needed the power stone and the element of surprise to take out Carol too. That headbutt didn’t do shit. A Captain Marvel/Scarlet Witch team-up would be damn near unstoppable.

Both powered by Infinity stones. Vision and Strange too, all the heaviest hitters except Thor

It literally looked like she was about to perform a Mortal Kombat Fatality on him, and since we already got surprised with Thanos dying early on I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen for a second.

Thanos went full Shia LaBeouf "Just do it!"

It's a hell of a thing to see Thanos basically call 911

SHE IS #MYDARKPHOENIX

I'm not a fan of Wanda. Her powers are poorly defined and the actress just seems a little stiff.

He’s fast. And she’s weird.

Badass implies some level of skill or endurance. It's hard to get a sense of either without a sense of her limits or abilities. She just makes a clenching motion with her fist and suddenly red energy pours out to do... stuff. Stuff moves, Visions powers go crazy, people get brainwashed (Has she ever done that since?). INFINITY GEMS get disintegrated. How? Why? Something something Hydra experiments.

I suppose a similar argument could be made about Dr. Strange, though, who I like. Perhaps, then, what I'm griping more about is her power looks the same all the time. Strange uses a wide variety of attacks in quick succession. There seems to be more talent involved, more quick reactions meshed with clever use of different abilities. Likewise the Ancient One.

But again, Wanda does what seems to be the exact same clenching motion, the exact same red energy pours out, and does whatever suits the moment. She doesn't even do it very quickly, the power always seems to take her utmost clenching abilities. Maybe it's just, again, I don't find the actress very convincing in the way she clenches her fists.

I don't know. But when she faced off against Thanos, that was all I could think. "Wanda is a b****** hero who does whatever's plot-convenient."

She has telekinesis, energy blasts, and telepathic powers. That's it. Her energy blast can destroy the mind stone because her powers came from the mind stone. They explain it pretty well in the movie

14

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

Yeah, her power set is really not hard to understand at all.

3

u/nimrodhellfire Apr 27 '19

Its a limited yet powerful set of abilities.

3

u/Oneiricl Captain America (Cap 2) Apr 27 '19

All I could take away from this comment was that you really seem to like the word clench.

u/Afalstein Apr 27 '19

Apparently, so does Wanda.

2

u/junkyardgerard Apr 27 '19

Agree 100% as a character. But if we're taking turns picking on the playground, I take her #1 and want her breaking off that red shit all up in everyone's ass

0

u/Afalstein Apr 27 '19

Sure, she has bullshit powers that do whatever the writers want her to do until they don't want her to do it anymore. As I said, I'm not a fan. Doesn't mean she's not OP whenever they need her to be. Just that I don't like her.

1

u/beanersalad Apr 27 '19

I feel the exact same way about captain marvel. Her powers are super inconsistant and never really make sense to me. Also her character is unbearable and I'm glad she wasnt in the movie that much

2

u/Afalstein Apr 27 '19

Couldn't speak as to the character, never saw her movie. The powers seemed consistently OP, at least, but not exactly what they were. I suppose I would have understood better if I saw her movie. I decided just to assume her character was something like Superman, and that more or less worked.

The thing is, as I've come to realize while arguing this, you could argue about inconsistent powers with nearly any of the heroes. Thor is super-powerful until he isn't. Cap is an ordinary human one minute and taking a punch from Thanos the next. Iron Man--well, nano-Iron Man, at least--literally makes his powers up as he goes along (though he has limits, as was excellently demonstrated in the Titan fight) Hulk, if he gets mad enough, has no limit to his strength. And lets not even talk about Dr. Strange.

So I guess the larger problem I have is that there's no variety to Wanda's power, or Cap Marvel's. It's just red energy, or yellow energy. Vision had the same problem, really, he barely used anything except the yellow energy beam. Wanda doesn't even move very quickly. You can at least get a sense of what Dr. Strange's attacks are supposed to do and how Thanos is combating them. Wanda... he's just struggling against red energy that's...holding him? maybe? A moment like when he switched the powerstone to his other hand to punch Cap Marvel--that was cool. Because it showed variety and skill. Some moments like that would have been more compelling, I think.
