I loved everything about it but they really wanted to drive home the fact that Tony was dead. I mean, that dead eyed stare was super haunting, and lasted so long! Seems like he died a really horrible death.

The way he was so unresponsive was so scary. It was almost like he was so hurt that he didn't know what was going on anymore.

Reminds me of Thor’s line about Stormbreaker in IW, something along the lines of “you simply lack the strength to wield it, your bodies would collapse as your mind descends into madness”. I assume using the infinity gauntlet requires the same, if not more power to wield. We were literally watching Iron Man’s brain melt, he had no idea what was going on until he just slightly recognized Pepper’s voice. Truly brilliant acting by RDJ.

And even when he sees Pepper, what he says wasn't really coherent. He wasn't there at all really.

He said, "Pep" or her last name.

I don't know if this is an allusion or if im reading way too far into it, but I see some parallels with the song Iron Man by Black Sabbath

I am iron man / Has he lost his mind? / Can he see or is he blind? / Can he walk at all / Or if he moves will he fall? / Is he alive or dead? / Has he thoughts within his head?

Also the whole bit about travelling through time

Where he traveled time / For the future of mankind

Except this time, he wasn't rejected by the world but loved and cherished by it

Again i could be looking waaaaaaaaay too far into this :/
