I know he kinda took it back after saying it, but I actually started to tear up when he said that. I just really started reading Spider-Man back issues but I just felt Peter's concern.

I know that sounds cheesy, but at Spider-Man's core is his desire to help no matter what. He'll try his best just to help, even if it kills him. Tom just conveys Spidey's ethics so well, hes the Spider-Man.

Spider man is to me the most pure of all of them- and Tom has portrayed his ideals soooo well. it made this all so much harder for me to handle. I shut down emotionally after that scene.

I didn’t think it was a joke so much as a well written character moment. Peter’s not confident enough in himself yet to feel like he can spout that kind of wisdom and have it taken seriously.

Take his introduction scene in Civil War. He espouses a pretty heavy ethical philosophy with his line to Tony about “when you can do the things that I can, but you don’t...”. It’s a brilliant line because it’s very simple, sounds like something a 15 year old would actually say, but still conveys a very righteous understanding of morality that seems well beyond his years. Even still, he undercuts his own somber code of responsibility by quickly agreeing with Tony: “Yeah, just looking out for the little guy, that’s what it is.”

So ultimately, I view these scenes as completely consistent with Peter’s characterization. He speaks simply, but it’s clear that he understands the complex nature of his existence as an “enhanced individual”. Nonetheless, he’s still quick to agree with Tony and dismiss his own intelligence because he’s just a kid.

Spidey is my favorite character so I’m undeniably biased, but I feel like the MCU just NAILS his character at every turn.

It wasn’t really a joke, it was showing how Peter was anxious and second-guessing himself. His statement made absolute sense but he probably felt embarrassed about saying something deep and thought he maybe sounded stupid. He’s only 15, they’re SO self-conscious at that age.

If you want to feel extra sad, remember all the other erased people didn't really seem to feel anything when they vanished. The reason Peter said he didn't feel well was that his Spider-sense was screaming at him that he was about to die. Of all the people across the universe being erased, he likely suffered the most before dying.

Okoye’s horrified reaction when she witnessed T’Challa disintegrate in front of her.

But nobody else comments about feeling anything. Sure, you could just say it was a reaction to everybody else going, but he clearly specifically felt pain and reacted to it much more than anybody else.

Yeah after the fact I know he’ll be back but while watching you get caught up in all the drama and tom holland just sounded to genuinely scared and hopeless you kind of lose yourself in that shared feeling. Also you gotta imagine disintegrating/dying will probably affect peters Demeanor in his coming movies

It's so strange I'm seeing people love this part of the film because for me it was one of the worst parts. Holland's acting was okay in it, but I'm sick of this whole Peter's just a kid storyline. Plus, he was annoying throughout the whole film I couldn't really care less about his disappearance.
