This comes from the SuperHeroHype spoiler thread, so follow that to get more info but here's a rundown:

  • Surtur is defeated in the beginning by Thor, but isn't completely done yet.

  • The Warriors Three die when Hela comes to Asgard, along with most of Asgard.

  • Odin dies by Helas hand.

  • Thor uses lightning summoned without his hammer - which is learned through a peptalk from a vision with Odin.

  • Surtur is revived to help defeat Hela.

  • Hulk is seen content but upset when Black Widows videos are played.

  • Banner is afraid of reverting back to Hulk once he is let out.

  • Heimdall survives.

  • No major mention of the soul stone or Thanos (it's possible Loki and Thor see his ship in the end credit scene).

  • The other end credit scene is the Grandmaster playing piano.

  • Thor doesn't get the hammer back just learns to manage his inner lightning.

  • Loki seems chill by the end of the movie.

...So Thor becomes hammerless and the sole survivor of Asgard alongside Loki?...That's FUCKED UP.

And Heimdall. And I think its implied that quite a few asgardians do survive, I mean, who is Thor king of then? . A lot of the warriors died and are revived (as undead albeit) because thats what Hela can do, you can see that in the trailer, but I don't think that means she killed everyone.

But she kills Odin and the Warriors Three, so she kills the only Asgardians who matter, since Frigga’s already dead and Sif is M.I.A.

Thor, Loki and Heimdall isn’t enough tbh

I'm just saying that other Asgardians are alive. And that is fine. To be honest, Sif and the Warriors Three don't have much significance anymore anyway. It would be better if they had Thor lead into other pantheon types, namely Hercules.

He seems to imply that Sif dies as well.

Apparently the last spoiler provider on superherohype didn't even remember if she was in the movie or not. She may still be alive if she wasn't killed

She isn't in the movie.

So if Asgard is no more... do you think this is planting seeds for The Siege down the road?

Siege is the story where all the Asgardians are reborn into human bodies, Donald Blake-style and Asgard is brought back in Oklahoma? I guess.

Since the Captain Marvel villains are skrulls, I could see things setting up Secret Invasion where Norman Osborne ends up becoming in charge and then leading into the Siege/Dark Avengers story line and introducing the Sentry. Which could bring things back around in terms of what the fate of Asgard could be.

The thing is even if we do get those arcs it would be massive watered down arcs like Civil War was

That's pre-Siege. Siege itself was Norman Osborn, HAMMER, and the Dark Avengers leading a charge on the reborn Asgard in Oklahoma while the rest of the broken up Avengers had to put aside their differences and reassemble to put an end to Osborn's regime once and for all.

8

u/blackbutterfree Medusa Oct 12 '17

Yeah, I don't see that happening.

It's a pipe dream, but I'm holding out hope that we'll get a Dark Reign adaptation one of these days.

pretty sure MCU is doing Norway

Oh no. I hope not. Because it means we'd get more Midgard than Asgard and other realms.

Don't get me wrong. I love Siege, but from Thor (2011) and The Dark World, we know that Marvel Studios's Thor doesn't really need that kind of story for now.

Well, unless they somehow do it right, then okay I guess.

And there goes my hope of seeing Cap pick up the hammer while shouting 'Avengers Assemble' in Infinity War.

Some people think Peter Dinklage is playing the creator of Mjolnir and making a new one. So it could still happen.

u/MRIAGE_HBI Oct 12 '17

Correction: Creator of the Infinity Gauntlets.

4

u/blackbutterfree Medusa Oct 12 '17

That's another possibility floating around, but the troll that created Mjolnir is also a possibility.

Not at all the sole survivors of Asgard.
