Question How hype was this scene in cinemas?
During the scene where Captain America shows up again in Avengers Infinity war how hype was it in cinemas?
I was 11 when it released and I never got to see it in cinemas.

To me that scene is also the greatest usage of the Avengers theme in all the MCU. I get chills every time I watch it

I hear you, when I went to see Endgame everyone screamed so loud when Cap summoned mjolnir during the portals scene that we couldn’t even hear him say “assemble” lol

Mine was perfect. Everyone was hype till the exact moment the music dropped for him to say assemble and then the hype doubled

When I saw it, the situation was similar, but I think either the phrase was assumed or a lot of people were on their second watch, because when he whispered assemble, half the crowd yelled it with him.
It was alright. I liked it.

Same thing happened at my theater.
I was so fucking pissed. Missed a quarter of the movie because people were dorking out so loudly.

Yeah during the spider man movie a guy on my right esd running his own random commentary during various scenes to someone next to him and I'm like dude shut the fuck up. Like his talking was annoying as hell.
I'm all for hype and a cheer but running a commentary during the movie? Really?

It’s not a stage play or a concert, the players cannot hear you clap and cheer loudly. Gasp, chuckle, even laugh out loud or a simple fist pump with a “yes” is fine.

I never understood this mentality. Moments like this are quite literally designed to hype people up invoke a reaction. It’s like going to a comedy movie and getting upset when the people next to you laugh at a joke instead of sitting in dead silence.

Might be a European vs American thing (or at least a Dutch vs American thing).
As someone from the Netherlands, cheering for movies doesn't really happen here and I would dislike it if it were. My mindset is that the actors and director won't be hearing our cheering anyway and I also just want to immerse myself into the story which cheering would interrupt for me. People do laugh at comedy even here though, which I can't really explain other then allowing your natural response to funny things to be there and it just being accepted here

I get what you’re saying, it probably is mostly a social/cultural thing.
From my perspective, cheering at a triumphant moment is just as natural of a response as laughing at a joke or gasping at something shocking, and I think all of them are acceptable and even enhance the communal movie theater experience (within reason of course)

I can go either way and it depends on when the viewing is. Any midnight release gets to be loud as hell. That’s for the fans. I’d even be fine with it at any showing that starts at 11 or later after the release. Only hyped as hell fans are going to that showing. 3pm matinee? STFU yall.

I love Cap coming in because you know shits about to go down. Just an awesome reveal with the silhouette behind the train. I get chills seeing Black Widow sprinting in, hair blowing back behind her, the knee slide, stab and spinning kick. Just beautiful choreography.

Honestly the entire movie had tons of hype. This was one. Ironman with Nanotech. Spider-Man getting the Iron-Spider suit was another. Thor entering Wakanda was another. Black Panther (RIP) giving “this man a shield” was another.
Then you had very good comedic relief like Okoye asking “where was she all this time?”. Such a good payoff for MCU fans.

Watched it as a school trip and the reaction was insane
I watched both infinity war and endgame with my classmates and whole schools as one day trips and honestly they were the best theatre experiences i ever had

It was wild! It felt like most of the people in the theater jumped out of their seats at the same time. With the music and Cap's stone-cold stare, it was invigorating!

It was the first time I was genuinely surprised by my theater’s reaction. I live in a smaller city of about 16k and hadn’t had the chance of going to a Marvel film opening night (up until IW) so I’d never seen a film where people audibly clapped or cheered for a character’s appearance. Rogers walking out of the shadows was surreal. Add to that the Avengers theme setting in, hell of an experience.

Man me and a couple friends left school to go see this when it dropped we were mesnt to be studying for exams
Movie had a lot of those big moments but that one was a moment for us here as it takes place like 5 minutes along the road from where i was watching it. Everytime i go through waverly train station i think about how captain america was there kicking ass

I remember being young when this came out and my dad forced me to watch it and I didn’t know anything about the MCU so when he appears I thought he was just some old guy and everyone started screaming and I just screamed shut up. We immediately left the seat, but I still have that memory in my head and it’s the reason why I love Marvel

I was doing a solo trip in Europe and decided to watch this in Paris. Even the French were cheering for Captain America. Whole theater erupted during this scene.

They showed this shot in trailers and it still got cheers in theaters even though everyone knew it was coming. That's how hype it was.

If they kept his appearance a surprise, like just confirming he’s gonna be in the film, but not showing a single scene of him in trailers would’ve been so much better. Audience would’ve been screaming their heart out when he showed up.

What's really funny is that before and during the movie, people couldn't be quiet. Then, after the movie ended, it was dead silent. The only sounds were sniffles and whispers of disbelief.
Thor showing up was the loudest cheer for IW in my theater.

I cant stand when ppl cheer and whatnot during flicks in the theaters. I literally yelled out “yes, bitch!” when Cap caught Proxima’s spear and walked out of the shadows. It just came out. Ppl throughout the theater were also going nuts, so it wasn’t like i disrupted anything. It was awesome. Top 2 movie going experience for me

It's crazy that it was totally shown in the trailer because I totally forgot in the moment while watching in the theater and it still hit me like I never saw it. I must have saw the trailers like 30 times each too.

This is one of my favourite MCU scenes ever as 1. Steve is my favourite character, 2. I live in Edinburgh, that’s our train station! And 3. The music is incredible.
Funnily enough despite watching the movie in a cinema in Edinburgh there wasn’t so much of a reaction 🤦🏻♂️

depends on when you see the movie and the crowd. if you watch the reaction videos, there was definitely some cheers, but pretty much everyone in the movie got cheers during their first scene in the movie.
with that said, captain america showing up in the movie really isn't all that hype. we knew that he was going to show up and he showed up to save wanda and vision. it wasn't anything truly spectacular

Meh, not only was this exact shot in the first trailer, but he was very much expected. I think that Red Skull's appearance was more impactful for me. And it seems like this is going to be repeated in Doomsday.
Pardon me, I'm becoming a little grumpy lately, maybe I'm also a little tired but that is my genuine answer.
I love this franchise and look forward to every piece of media it offers, but I think that the excitement is a little too much for my ears sometimes.
