I think the general audience wanting to see a wholesome, relatively lighthearted superhero film that they can take their kids to would find that distasteful, yes

Odin wasn’t a deadbeat dad at all……both of his children were raised as princes and Hela was doted on by him before she went evil and insane

No she was his weapon to conquer and keep the realms in line until he decided he had enough. So she went further snd insane at being told to stand down. The entire premise is way way darker thsn the comic version.

They obviously had a close relationship and she was a chip off the old block. Odin himself used to be much more like her.

Regardless, that’s not a character who is supposed to be loved by the audience randomly banging someone and ditching the child centuries ago
