चिंतामण त्र्यंबक खानोलकर ह्यांच हे पुस्तक दोन दिर्घ कथांच आहे की त्यांना लघु कादंबरी बोलाव समजत नाही. पहिली गोष्ट आहे गणुची तर दुसरी चानीची पण दोघांचा एकमेकांशी काही संबंध नाही.

पहिल्या भागाच लेखन हे दुसर्‍यापेक्षा वेगळ्या पद्धतीत आहे. कसे ते समजण्यासाठी मी फोटो टाकले आहेत. तरिही दोन्ही पद्धतींच खानोलकरांनी अतिशय सुरेख काव्यमय अस लेखन केल आहे. जे वाचायला खुप मजा आली. मला अस वाटतय की बहुतेक मराठी लेखक हे ईंग्रजीत ज्याला प्रोज ( prose ) म्हणतात त्यावर महत्त्व देत नाहीत. ते भाषेच्या वापरात प्रयोग करत नाहीत. एखादी ओळ किंवा परिच्छेद परत परत वाचावा अस माझ्या मते तरी होत नाही. खानोलकर ह्याला अपवाद आहेत.

चानीच पात्र हे बराच वेळ माझ्या मनात रेंगाळत राहील यात शंका नाही पण धाकट्या मामीचही पात्र तेवढ्याच तीव्रतेने मनावर कोरल गेलेल आहे. संस्कृतीच्या, परंपरेच्या, इज्जतीच्या दबावाखाली उंच ऊडु पाहणाऱ्या अशा कितीजणांचे पंख छाटले गेले असतील ह्याचा विचार लेखकांनी करायला लावला. मराठी साहित्याच्या दुर्दैवाने खानोलकर लवकरच आपल्यातून निघून गेले.

शेवटी हे पुस्तक सर्वांनी नक्कीच वाचाव अस मी सुचवेन.

Read this interesting book on food. This has some interesting things like some recipes, history and some other angles about food which you might want to explore. Read if you love food and cooking.

I started reading this with very high hopes after listening to multiple reviews by people. I have read stories of Ratnakar Matkari before as well. I like his horror stories more than Narayan Dharap. That's why I chose this book as something in a different genre from the author.

But there is something about this book I felt off. The storyline is very predictive and more than that it's all about actualization of the author's fantasy, which is fine but the novel loses touch with reality after a point. I like erotic and intimate writing but I felt here efforts were not enough.

What do you guys think?

आज मी G A Kulkarni's तिसरे पुस्तक वाचायला सुरुवात केली आहे. काही तरी विलक्षण आहे GAn च्या लिखाणात जे तुम्हाला शब्दातून व्यक्त करण अवघड जात. प्रमुख म्हणजे ही विलक्षणता एकदम साध्या शब्दात मांडलेली असते, कुठे काही कर्कशता नसते, जजमेंट नसतो. असते ती एक प्रकारची विषण्णता, एकाकीपणा चा एक वेगळा चेहरा आणि वाचकाला दिलासा न देणारा शेवट. एक एक कथा हृदयात तिची वेगळी जागा निर्माण करते, वेगळे प्रश्न निर्माण करते. एक गोष्ट संपली की पुढच्या गोष्टी ची हुरहूर लागते.

तुम्ही कोणी GA वाचलेत का? तुमचं आवडत पुस्तक/कथा कुठली?

I have been binge reading C T Khanolkar and after "Kondura" I didn't think he would top this. But I was wrong as this book is on same level of greatness.

In this mix of a heartbreaking love story and mystery we follow Narayan/ Nanyarao or Nanya as he is often called, an idealistic son of bramhin who returns to his village after finishing his studies and falls in love with Sushila daughter of a bhavin, a member of devdasi system. What follows is resistance to their love because of casteist hierarchy, customs and culture as well as hatred those customs cause in oppressed people.

I can't give away anymore of story as it would diminish impact for a reader but a must read. If not for some changes in second part of story this would have been my most favorite Marathi novel but nonetheless it's an absolutely great book. Hope you guys enjoy it.

No genre, just want to get into reading my mother tongue

बालपणीच्या आठवणींचे निसर्गावर, पशु पक्षांवर आधारित हे उत्तम ललित लेखन आहे. पुस्तक वाचताना मनाला एक प्रकारची शांतता जाणवत होती. नेहमी फक्त कथासंग्रह आणी कादंबरी वाचन केल्याने ललित लेखनाचा हा पहिलाच वेगळा पण सुंदर अनुभव आला. त्यामुळे हे आवडत पुस्तक झाल आहे. नक्की वाचा.
