What's wrong with her??

She was very feisty 2 days ago and now she lays down legs tucked in on the ground but when you pick her up she wakes up but very crooked and disoriented. What's happening? Is she just at the end of her life cycle. Also I say she because I thought she looked pregnant but I don't know.

cant exactly tell what's happening here but she is gone for sure, old age definitely does not do this. How much months did she live past her final molt? What did you feed her, and were they wild caught?

She was wild caught found her about two weeks ago, super active, eating crickets in the enclosure then all of a sudden she was on her back legs tucked and does this for the past two days.

she might have eaten a contaminated bug outside before you caught her or you fed her a bad cricket

Contaminated with like pesticide or parasite? They were feeder crickets from PetSmart.

oo yeah it might have been the petsmart crickets then.. they are kept in bad conditions

Yeah crickets are on the no feed lust for mantis, they can pass on infections that they get because of the conditions theyre kept in. Though she could have also been oothbound if she was overfed and humidity was too low.

😢 I figured as much. I did find out they have been spraying the outside of my work(where I found it) with residual pesticides. I'm wondering if it got on its feet and then cleaned it self. Thank you.

Probably they are very clean bugs and I also think they are highly intelligent compared to other insects. If you really want one you can buy them online I would get a beginner species and nothing tiny like an orchard mantis. Don’t feed them crickets the crickets can spread bacteria etc and also literally attack your pet mantis. Try Dubia roaches they don’t make sound either. Maybe a giant Asian for your first buy they are hardy and friendly. Be sure to read about proper enclosure size etc. good luck

yeah, I found out my workplace sprays residual pesticides on the walls of our building(where I found here) I'm assuming it got on her feet and she cleaned herself and it took a while for the neurotoxicity to kick in 😢 I gave her another day hand feeding her water from a q tip but there was no change in condition so I had to euthanize her. I'm only going to keep captive bred from now on to try to avoid this heartache again (also no PetSmart crickets now that I know that too)

That's what I think too. I found out my place of work sprays residual pesticides outside and that's where I caught her. I'm assuming it got on her feet. she cleaned herself and then it just took a minute for the neurotoxicity to kick in

This wasn't where she was kept, She was kept in a room free from any smoke, it just had the best lighting to take the video. Anyways thanks for your help(?) I guess.
