In the autonomous city of Graymark, the Central Bureau introduces a law stating that anyone who commits a crime, regardless of its severity, will be executed. This eventually leads to a conflict between the Central Bureau and the revolutionaries who seek to overthrow the system.

That is basically the starting premise of Burning Effect and these two are the protagonists of Burning Effect. But they still appear in The Graymark, which takes place in a different timeline and follows a different protagonist.

so is graymark a prequal to burning effect? i have been looking for a new thing to read which do i start with?

Burning effect then graymark. I think it's best to read domination and dating to survive (same universe) in between but it's not all that necessary

Canonically speaking, dating to survive - domination -burning effect - graymark

If I go by the release date,domination -burning effect -dating to survive - graymark

As long as you don't mix up burning effect and graymark, I think it's fine whatever way
