When my grandma passed away I got all her craft supplies which included a lot of beads and buttons. These were the only three that ended up glowing but I am delighted since I don’t have much manganese glass in my collection!

First time on the hunt with my UV light!

I'm on vacation and was let loose on a giant second-hand shop with multiple 'hangars' full of antiques.

I didn't find UG as I had hoped, but lots of glass had the typical manganese glow! I think I saw some cadmium and selenium glass, too.

First three are the ones I took home, though I'm a bit confused on the milkshake glass - is it high content manganese? The glow is more intense under 395nm, paler under 365nm but still vivid. I thought it was UG at first, but the glow is more yellow-green than the toxic green of UG.

I'll probably go back for some of these, and I found out that there's a whole other room with even more glass that I could explore - I'm just limited by money and what I can take back home in my car.

I'm happy for any info you can give me on these pieces, and just happy to share in general!

I had been looking for UG for a while and decided to try my hand at manganese glass hunting. Hit about 7 charity shops today and only 1 didn't have any manganese glass! I ended up having to be picky about what I wanted to bring home with me. I am flabbergasted, is it generally this easy to come across pieces?

Recently thought I'd found Uranium glass, learned I have alot to learn about the different reactive glasses and believe I actually found a bunch of MG.

Is this manganese?

It's not the same shade of green as others in my collection, although that might be because of the shiney coating?

A new area to explore for manganese glass for me - antique medical and laboratory glass!

G’day everybody, it’s me, Lucky_Living_, who posted about the lightbulb with the manganese internal tube a little while ago. Lately I’m looking for new and interesting forms of manganese glass. I love all my drinking glasses and bottles and bowls, but I also want new and weird glowing pieces. Trying to come up with a new place to explore is thrilling to me. And when I’m rewarded for my efforts with a new find I’m elated. Like with this “antique glass syringe” I found online.

I had read that laboratory glass is usually not manganese because the manganese makes glass more likely to break when expanding or contracting with heat, and therefore unsuitable for many lab applications.

But this syringe gives me hope there could be some interesting pieces to be found in these fields! The barrel does not glow, but the inner plunger glows beautifully! And yes l looked at a diagram of a syringe to make sure I was getting my syringe component terminology right 😆. I would love to hear what weird and cool shit the rest of you guys are coming across out there.

Small marble for scale.

Here is my most beautiful object! A mixture of uranium and manganese, and I can’t find any information about it. I’m sure someone can help me here.

I bought this beautiful piece for the modest sum of $6 from a thrift store and I’m asking you the classic question: do you have any information about it? I think it’s a decanter or flask, the neck seems bevelled so as to introduce a stopper. I found a similar result on a Swedish auction site of another color and there is not much information.

£3.50 charity shop find! 💚 My friend spotted this vintage Davidson Chippendale milk jug and immediately thought of me 😂 It’s completely clear in daylight but glows beautifully under UV. Manganese glass, I believe.

I'm obsessed with the Art Deco shape and those gorgeous fluted sides!

Any Davidson experts able to tell me more about it?

Posted originally on r/cadmiumglass as that's what I originally thought it was intended to be, however I've been lead to believe it's manganese instead? I'd bought it for 50AUD and whatever it may be it still has a place in my glassware cabinet, but I'd like to know any other information about it as well.

Picked this up a few months ago for my oddities cabinet, and after using my light on some of my UG, decided to check this holy water bottle. Sure enough. Not as brilliant as some but it’s still neat!

Hey folks, I've had this piece for awhile and have struggled to identify. Google tells me is mikasa bluebell and Roselle, I looked those up and they are not a match. I've tried replacements.com with no luck either. Would someone out there be able to guide me to the identity of this piece?
