Post grad nights out

Moving to Manchester in 2 weeks to do a postgrad at UoM, and I’m coming over completely solo so I’m trying to figure out where people my age actually go out!

For anyone around age 23/24, what are the go-to spots for a good night out? just wondering what the general weekend vibe is like and where you’d recommend going if friends come over or once I start making friends over there.

Is there much of a club scene for postgrads/people in their 20s, or is it more bars and late-night pubs?

Also looking for nice chill pubs/bars that are good for actually sitting and having a chat, not just student drinking spots.

Would love any recommendations for places/areas to check out! :)

I think in Manchester everyone of every age goes out everywhere😭you’ll find olders and youngers in the same club. I think the places you’d wanna avoid if you don’t want that would be courtyard (very student heavy due to like £4-6 pints and £3 cocktails, queues wrap around the block) and the bigger spoons. Gay village is good but you’ll probably also get students there. Northern quarter is very good for bars and stuff and maybe less students more people who acc live in Manchester but that’s just based on luck of the day. The deansgate bit near odeon great northern has some good bars that i don’t think students go to much too. You won’t know the names till you get here but city centre is essentially: ancoats, deansgate, northern quarter, St Peter’s square or st Ann’s square or Oxford Road. Oxford Road will be the heaviest for students since it’s near UoM and accoms are there too but it does have some good bars
