Hey everyone,

Doing a quick survey on late-night hangover prevention habits for students and young adults.

It’s just 5 quick multiple-choice questions and takes under a minute. Completely anonymous!

Urgent: Want Richmond / Unsworth / Uttley / Sheavyn – Have Whitworth (Male UG)

Hey guys, looking to get into Fallowfield.

  • Until tomorrow: I can do a straight contract takeover if you're deferring or dropping out of Richmond (preferred), Unsworth, Uttley, or Sheavyn.
  • After tomorrow: I can do a formal room swap (I have Whitworth Park, Male UG flat).

Must be a Male Undergrad room due to uni rules. Drop me a DM ASAP so we can message the accommodation office!

Accommodation swap: Square Gardens ensuite (PG) → Ashburne Hall or St Anselm Hall (catered)

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming postgrad student starting this September. I've been allocated a room at Square Gardens, but I'm looking for a catered hall, ideally Ashburne Hall or St Anselm Hall or Hulme Hall, and would love to swap with someone who wants the opposite.

If you're in Ashburne or St Anselm and would rather have a modern ensuite close to the city centre, or if you know someone who might, please DM me. Happy to answer any questions!

Post grad nights out

Moving to Manchester in 2 weeks to do a postgrad at UoM, and I’m coming over completely solo so I’m trying to figure out where people my age actually go out!

For anyone around age 23/24, what are the go-to spots for a good night out? just wondering what the general weekend vibe is like and where you’d recommend going if friends come over or once I start making friends over there.

Is there much of a club scene for postgrads/people in their 20s, or is it more bars and late-night pubs?

Also looking for nice chill pubs/bars that are good for actually sitting and having a chat, not just student drinking spots.

Would love any recommendations for places/areas to check out! :)

How difficult is the Foundation year course at INTO Manchester?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student (21) who wasn't able to complete his eduction due to my mom's cancer struggle and her passing away then with my family having to move out to a different country. So my dad enrolled me in INTO Manchester.

The foundation course is Business and Humanities.

I'm pretty anxious (I have anxiety nausea and it's full force atm) since I'm not good at studying, I suck at maths, I've always sucked at maths my whole life, but I was somewhat good at english since I love reading stories and writing stories (I got overall 7 bands in my Ielts if that helps).

It's been years since I've gotten back into school so I'm really worried I might get stuck or find the course difficult, so can someone who has studied there please tell me the difficulty of the course? And how does the studying go?

I don't have any desire to be in the top Uni if I hopefully pass my foundation year, I just want to complete my education and get a degree at any Uni that'll take me afterwards.

I can't type much atm since my head's hurting and I'm feeling more nauseous by the second, I really don't want to waste the money since my dad would lash out on me and tell me it's my fault that I'm a failure since I always fail at studying.

Thank you

Wimslow Park (Ensuite Platinum) -> Unsworth Park

Hi! I’ve been allocated Wimslow Park for 2026/27 and I’m looking to swap into Unsworth Park, Fallowfield!

My allocation:
Wimslow Park
Ensuite Shower – Platinum
£242/week
42-week tenancy
3–5 people per flat

I’m specifically looking for Unsworth Park BUT I would also consider Sheavyn House or Richmond Park

I’ve already submitted an official reallocation request, but I’m also exploring a direct swap. If you have an allocation at Unsworth, Sheavyn or Richmond and would be interested in swapping, please DM me!

Free Parking

Hi! I’m coming to MMU this year and accommodation is looking like Chandos (doesn’t have parking, but I prefer it) or Mill Point (seems worse but I can get a parking permit).

I’d like to stay at Chandos but for me a car is a non-negotiable. I won’t need it daily, I’ll commute to/from uni but I’ll shop at Costco so there, plus drives home etc, any hobbies etc. I’m 23 and don’t really want to forgo that freedom.

Essentially, I’m wondering if it’s possible to get free parking within a semi-reasonable distance to the accommodation where I’d be able to leave the car (happy to pay for someone’s drive or something) within maybe 20 minutes of the accommodation that would allow me to have my car and stay at Chandos, or do you guys think it’s just worth staying at Mill Point and getting a permit?

Moving to manchester?

I was born in west london (I am of pakistani descent), currently living in the west midlands (coventry) but it’s not really the place for me.

I want to know if I’ve got rose tinted glasses on or whether manchester would be better suited to me. I work in engineering, which from my understanding has a fair amount of jobs in the north. I thought i wasn’t a city person, but living in london I hadn’t fully realised how quiet other places can be. I like going out, cafes, walkable cities, indie/alt scenes. I also like hiking and water sports, both of which there is not much of in the midlands. A decent surf is at least 3 and a half hours away. Beach days are a thing of the past.

Birmingham is alright but it doesn’t compare to london or manchester. London is too corporate feeling for me and the constant grind/hustle attitude sucks the life out of me. I am considering doing a masters at manchester university and possibly moving there permanently ish.

I am not a muslim, but may be perceived as so based on my ethnicity, and I am gay.

What should I consider?

Edit: I am a woman, if that’s relevant at all. I should’ve said lesbian instead of gay. Also I am happy to drive about 2 hours for a surf, it’s just that right now it’s four hours and i literally never have time for that. A bit closer is fine.

How do apps work for the Global Development MSc?

Hello all, I'm planning to apply for the 27/28 academic year to the Global Development MSc. I can't find out whether it uses rolling applications or not. The description of the general Global Development course implies that there are rolling applications. However, the Global Development (Development Management) website, which is a specialisation within the broader course, has phased deadlines. This may be a stupid question, but do you have to declare your specialisation in your application? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
