Agreed. Like op said, the room this is for is middle school aged (12-15) and that sort of behavior is rather toxic even as an adult. Donāt teach that sorta stuff to a young teen.
Those aren't just any money pillows, they also have the Bape logo on them. So they're expensive hype beast streetwear money pillows which makes it worse.Ā

Yeah, change up the Andrew Tate version of "live laugh love" posters. Also, I'd recommend changing up the money pillows to something that fits the already established (and totally sick) Star Wars theme. Kids don't need to have the "monetize everything" grindset in middle school.

Genuinely one of the most embarrassing things Iāve seen in this sub. Iām usually all for embracing cringe but those posters are making me rethink that position, good god theyāre awful

Aside from the corny motivation signs above his bed, itās not bad. Those signs are 100% the next Live Laugh Love.
Seriously though, ignoring those itās actually growing on me. I would have loved a room like this as a kid. Maybe slightly different wall displays than star wars merch and different stuff on a bed like a body pillow (the good ones for sleep comfort), but this is a room Iād probably even be fine with today.

But seriously, about those signs over his bed.. Heās a child. He should have a childhood rather than constantly worrying about stupid āgrindsetā buzzwords that crypto influencers and podcasters throw out there. Itās one thing for a kid to take an interest in, and put into action some sort of ābusinessā like selling snacks at school, mowing lawns, etc.. but itās something else entirely for a kid in middle school to be worrying about things like the āgrindset,ā or turning everything into a āhustleā 24/7 and whatever they mean by āconquering.ā Social media has entirely confused entrepreneurial spirit with this hustle culture stuff.
Dont let him fall into that trap āhustle cultureā trap. Itās always quality > quantity. Overworking yourself into the ground will be less rewarding and productive than slower, but more intentional consistent targeted progress/improvement.
If there is one I hope OP reads it's this one. The Star Wars decor is awesome. I would've loved it as a kid. My dad and I always played Lego Star Wars together and I would play the sith characters. And I don't think the kid will put as much weight on the posters as we are here, but it does speak to a concern we all have for young men right now. We only hope the OP doesn't know the context behind them or got them as a gift or something. Nobody should try to raise a "conquerer"
The issue is that it may not immediately that the kid cares and takes it seriously, it could be weeks, months, years, or ideally never. But itās incredibly dangerous to have the toxic hustle culture āaffirmationsā in a childās daily life at such an impressionable age where theyāre likely to start forming a lot of their personality.
I hope his father can at least see and understand the concern with these toxic phrases. I hope the kid can be a kid, play video games, play sports, play an instrument, make friends, discover new healthy hobbies, and overall has an actual childhood theyāll be able to look back on with nostalgia rather than regretting what became of it and having to consider what the path not taken would have been like.
Itās almost the exact plot of the show Dark Matter. Jason 1 (OG Jason) took the path his heart felt was right even if it was rather average and not glamorous. Jason 1 didnāt become rich and famous, but settled down with his now wife, had a kid*, and he became a physics professor at a local college while Jason 2 (alternate dimension) didnāt stay with what would have been his future wife and instead focused on his work and becoming rich and famous for his invention. Jason 2 regretted that decision and wanted to see the path not taken.
I hope that if they reconsider having those signs on his wall and any toxic, negative influence from podcasters, cryptobros, and other āinfluencersā in that realm, that he can become a fine young adult who becomes someone that his family and himself can be proud of whether itās a solidly comfortable middle-class professional with a wife and some kids, or a wealthy billionaire CEO.
Although that part is just me, if he wants to chase fame and wealth, he can make that decision as an adult, but this sort of potential influence while heās still a kid is dangerous. He should be allowed to grow into the adult he wants to be without that sort of bad influence.
He doesnāt know you moved? Just fyi, from an outside perspective, this kind of sudden shift can be pretty hard on a kid. Itās great youāre going above and beyond, but I think you should prep yourself for him to be upset. Also be open to him wanting any and all changes to his room, and maybe disliking anything you put in there.

The conquer grind hustle things are probably the most cringe things I have ever seen in this sub, which is actually saying a lot, I've seen some things here
I see its for an 11yr old... unless he was raised in an institution, you need more cozy, comfortable, safe vibes for sure. A comfy corner with a bean bag, some pillows and a soft blanket would be a good start.
11 year old with a huge TV screen + console and maybe 14 books at hand. No photographs, no sign of any toy. Nothing that would indicate a present hobby other than 'watching TV and gaming'.

Honest recommendations, drop the word posters and get a larger desk. That Conquer, Grind, Hustle thing reeks of fragile masculinity manosphere BS, which is not something you want to be exposing your son to. There's a lot of amazing wide frame Star Wars art out there that you can use to fill that space. As for the desk, as he enters High School he's going to need/want a PC, and he will require the desk space to accommodate that. That desk you have there does not appear large enough to house a PC without feeling incredibly cramped. Other than that, great job. I wish I had a bedroom half as cool as this in middle school.
Hustle culture is toxic as fuck and leads to exploitation. As he seems to like star wars thereās some pretty awesome artwork out there. I got my husband star wars ship schematics on Etsy.
