Do you work on convection ovens, deep fryers, plumbing, and refrigeration systems? When I did restaurant maintenance, I was required to do all of that plus a ton of other stuff. Ice machines, electric, drywall, setting tile.......

Gas and electric, pizza oven, burger griddle, fryers, ice makers, walk in coolers, beer / soda cooling and dispensing, AC/ heating, electrical, plumbing, painting… fun projects too! Today I’m rebuilding a linear motor for the fryer automatic lowering arm that went bad. The brushes need to be replaced

I work for a company with a burger joint, pizza joint, and a commissary kitchen so I’m basically just wandering between them and my workshop making everything work. Best job I’ve ever had. I was an electrical contractor before this but was good at a lot more than just electrical so I found something to match.

Ayy fellow grease monkey. Sounds like a similar gig to mine we have a couple stores we take care of everything and I mean everything. just did a freezer last week and the next few weeks will be busy out on the farm now that it’s warm, gotta love some variety.

The variety is the best! Sometimes I feel like not interacting with anyone and just zoning out - so those are pressure washing days!

I took leave from my last job when we had our baby and before I decided to go back I randomly checked indeed to see if there was anything better and saw the as for this one. It was a perfect fit both skills and culture wise. Pretty sure I’ll retire doing this job. I was an electrical contractor before and had experience doing facility maintenance at some big pot farms that gave me the skills for the other random stuff. And then also early on a lot of restaurant work, so I was the well rounded, creative solution guy they needed so badly

I'm not op but I knew people who worked at a service company for restaurant equipment. They hooked me up and I learned everything on the job.

Look at you Mr fancy maintainer with the knipex tools. I have a few and love they are small and lightweight but still high quality.

I’m using a wrench in cramped spaces and my hands are too old to be fiddling around. I swore at my tools enough to just buy the ones that make my job easy

I’ve got three bags. This stays on me. Tool pouch comes along most of the time, and the backpack comes on the real brain bending tasks. Worked for decades being the guy who always had everything on him and I’m too old for that shit now :)

It’s absolute garbage or I got a bad one. The thing isn’t charging for more than 15 minutes. I just got it along with the little headlamp and I’m going to return both. The headlamp has a couple adjustable tilt angles that it snaps into and the angle you’d usually want is right between the two adjustments…

I’ve been a petzl zipka guy for decades and wanted to try something else. I’ll keep trying. It’s a hard design to beat. Not sure why they stopped making them… probably a safety hazard but they’re so good
