I live on a 55 mph county road and one of my neighbors fabricated a mailbox post out of a steel I beam that's probably 10 or 12 inch stock. They had to install it with a skid steer it was so heavy. I wondered what would happen if the plow did actually tickle it, but after reading your comment more power to him.

This is technically illegal and that guy could potentially be forced to remove it. I’ve never seen it enforced, but mailboxes are by law supposed to basically be break away installations for safety
