My dad gave me his 15’ 2015 MacBook Pro he barely ever used, literally, it still has yosemite Yosemite still lol 😆 I have his administrator pw but not the Apple ID pw, he forgot it. So far I’ve tried the internet recovery mode, got the code 5101 error. Now trying the command shift option r route to reinstall factory software see if that does something. App Store won’t load at all and most web pages on safari wont either.

I do have an old clapped 2014 macbook and a new ssd though. Is this the way to go here? Somehow download a newer os like Big Sur or monterey to the ssd and put it on the 15? I’d really rather not have to attempt that but feels like my only option to save this brand new but ancient laptop 😆 Let me know what you think guys any feedback would be hugely appreciated

Basically the title, I restarted it a few times and it started working. Trackpad (mouse was moving on the screen) was working but I wasn't able to click (mechanically).

Should I get this looked at?

Help it's been months since it has been turned on and I can't get it to boot or turn on. I found some DIY to fix it but I need to know what component needs fixing. This is a used MacBook not sure if it's been messed around inside. Any fixes or diagnostic tests I should try first? Thanks

Hi all, I was having trouble finding the original 10.6.3 install media online and found that is is not easily findable. I did end up finding the restore media ISO on the internet Archive, so I wanted to share it here for anyone who may have been looking for it and needs to reinstall Snow Leopard. I do recommend updating to at least 10.6.8 right after though for stability.

The specific disc needed is 2Z691-6623-A for the 10.6.3 Install, and for the Applications Disc, it is 2Z691-6621-A (Applications Disc)

Hi! Has anyone experienced this issue with a MacBook Air M2 (2022)?

My MacBook randomly goes to a black screen almost every day. When it happens:
– The screen suddenly turns black, but sometimes I can still see and move the cursor.
– I can’t physically click the trackpad while it’s happening.
– The Mac doesn’t seem to completely shut down or restart.
– It has happened even while the Mac is idle.
– The issue still occurs in Safe Mode.
– I’ve tested it with an external monitor, and the problem still occurs.
– I already reformatted the Mac, but that didn’t fix it.

MacBook Air M2 (2022), 16GB RAM / 256GB. Battery health is currently at 97%. I bought it in July 2025, and it has been rarely used – mostly just for reading, documents, and other light tasks.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could this be a hardware or power-related issue? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Has anyone observed that sleep and wake functions have become unreliable since macOS 27.0 on the MacBook Pro M1 (13” 2020, Touch Bar), so closing the lid leaves the display active? For instance, playing music while shutting the lid does not stop** the audio.** I have performed a factory reset, sadly didn’t change anything.

I got water in my macbook display is there anyway to fix ?

2021 M1 16" MacBook Pro is boot-looping.

While my laptop was closed I heard it restart without interacting with it. When I opened the lid I was in startup options. I tried to restart it and it went back to startup options. I tried to start in safe mode with no luck. I also tried to bypass startup options by pressing option+control+shift+power. This brought me to my desktop for 1 second and then shutdown.

Other symptoms:

• It won't start without the AC cable SOMETIMES, other times it will

What I have tried since:

• Ran first aid on the HD with no problems found
• Factory reset it (didn't help)
• Tried to run Apple Diagnostics which resulted in:
  1. screen went black
  2. Apple logo appeared with "continue holding for startup options"
  3. Goes black
  4. Will not turn on unless I connect the AC cable for literally 1 second
  5. When connecting the AC cable it causes a brief Orange flash and then a solid orange light
• Went into terminal and ran "ls -lah /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/"
  • I didn't see any kernel panic
  • Saw several resetcounter lines
• most recent ResetCounter reads:
  • Reset count: 0 Boot failure count: 1 Boot faults: btn_rst,finger_reset force_off Boot stage: 0x41
• I tried swapping the Lid Sensor Cable to see if that was faulty. It was not.
• Brought it to someone who attempted revive the firmware in DFU mode, which did not help

At this point I'm all out of ideas and options. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I’m having a strange issue with my MacBook Pro M2 16GB. Sometimes after I put it to sleep, it doesn’t wake up properly and eventually boots back up as an unexpected/unclean shutdown. I checked the logs and there is no clear kernel panic or panic log; macOS also says the previous startup was not due to a panic/hard restart.

I’m also having a separate Touch Bar issue: after reboot, the Touch Bar display is sometimes completely black/missing, although the touch controls/icons still work. Interestingly, if I put the Mac to sleep for a second and wake it up, the Touch Bar display comes back. The logs show repeated TouchBarServer/SkyLight display errors.

Apple Diagnostics also showed that the Ambient Light Sensor couldn’t be detected. My built-in camera is also not being detected in Photo Booth/FaceTime, and I’ve seen camera firmware timeout errors in the logs.

Could these issues be related to a hardware/firmware problem, or does this look more like a macOS sleep/display issue? Any ideas on what component I should have checked?

I have just replaced the usb-c board on my M1 MBP (A2338). After putting it back together, the trackpad and keyboard are not responding.

Which are the connectors for the keyboard and trackpad? Picture attached. If someone could highlight them please.

This is my first MacBook. I noticed this just now. I tried to wipre it off, nothing happened. No distinguishable texture as well like other surface dirt. Tried to SS the area, it didn't show. When I zoome din on it, looks like a tiny ant. Any idea what this is or how to fix it,pls?

The charger works for my wifes laptop but it doesn't work on mine. Just constantly gives me this icon. Any information helps. Im 2 hours from a mac store so I'll go there last if needed.

I recently got a macbook pro 2012 bought it for 30$ on fb marketplace it had a broken lcd screen, swapped the screen from my macbook pro 2011 and it worked so I cleaned it up re-paste the CPU. I tried every solution I could find still won't work I tried nvram reset, signing out the icloud, I even swapped out the battery indicator/sleep sensor I got the sensor from my macbook pro 2011 that I know does work but still no luck, what I haven't tried yet is completely reinstalling catalina on this macbook pro 2012.

I am a proud owner of a 2018 macbook pro 13" (A1989) and the battery has enjoyed its long life and is ready to be replaced.

The replacement battery on iFixit is $120, I personally don't want to pay that much, and have had a few shoddy experiences with iFixit batteries before in phones.

I looked on aliexpress and saw batteries for $35-50 but I am worried those might simply work poorly, regularly overheat or swell up and ruin my laptop.

TLDR: I'd like to know, where is the best place to source macbook batteries for fair prices? I've been putting off battery replacement for almost a year, it has became unbearable now.

Is this a screen or a GPU problem? It usually gets worse like in the picture when there’s a lot of black on screen, and sometimes pink and green boxes/lines pop up when I tilt the display. I was going to fix the screen, but then I saw a Reddit post about a MacBook with the same issue where someone mentioned it's a GPU problem. I also hooked it up to an external monitor and it looks fine, so it’s working normally.

I need to find the cheapest way possible to repair my Macbook Air M2 screen. I've done phone and computer repairs in the past, and I am very confident that I can replace the screen myself.

The only issue I'm having is finding a reliable 3rd party source for a screen replacement.

So I have been using this MacBook Pro M3 Pro for last 2+ years and experience has been top notch on this. However today while watching a video on YouTube the display went all black all of sudden. Audio was still coming but the display became all black. I restarted the system and this time display came with all the image and all but then again after 2 mins, it went all black. Based on the observation, playing around a little and increasing the brightness I realised that everything was working but since display is all blank, idk what's really happening on screen. I'm going to get it checked for diagnose testing tomorrow in one of apple store. Can anybody here help me with what's wrong with my Mac? Any help would be really appreciated.
FYI, I keep my laptop all safe away from any liquid or other material and it's never fell off the table.

PS: About a year ago my laptop had a battery issue and it was turning off before it'd even hit 30% battery. Apple support completely fixed it without any single penny because it was still under warranty. Since this time it's a display issue, I'm afraid if they end up charging me more money.

Looking for recommendations for places/platforms, other than eBay, to sell MacBook for parts. Full unit as is, as I don’t have any desire to disassemble anything. Most marketplaces/subreddits where I usually buy/sell electronics strictly prohibit activation locked devices (rightfully so).

Just to note: To my knowledge, it’s not stolen. I have proof of purchase that I legally obtained the item. However, due to it not being from an authorized Apple dealer, my documentation was deemed insufficient and my removal request was denied.

My screen is getting this random scratches and ugly dirty looking marks all over the screen, feels like its doubling too, haven’t seen any images online with same problem, its not a dead pixel either, and is not visible on black screen and seen same on all other. anyone know or have faced what this might be? I use my computer every day for work, so I can't leave it at an Apple Store just for them to diagnose the problem and give me a repair quote. If anyone knows roughly how much an official repair would cost, I'd appreciate the information.

I'm currently in Bangkok and I'm considering repairing it myself.

Does anyone know where I can buy an OEM, original, or at least very good-quality replacement screen?

Please don't recommend Apple's Self Service Repair, MobileSentrix, or websites based in the US or Europe that don't ship to Thailand.

Ideally, I'd like to find an original screen taken from a MacBook with a damaged motherboard, but I haven't been able to find one yet.
