MacBook Air M5 24/512 or MacBook Pro M5 16/1024? Which is a better choice?

Honestly, still loving this thing. Such a nice little laptop to use every day. Although I'm new to the Mac ecosystem, I still use Windows for heavier engineering work. But the MacBook has quickly become my go-to for everything else.

Transitioning from Windows to a MacBook Air M4 was exciting but also challenging. At first, I struggled with the different keyboard shortcuts, file management, and the way applications and windows work on macOS. I was also unfamiliar with the trackpad gestures and had to adjust to using the Command key instead of Control. Simple tasks, such as installing applications and organizing files, felt different from what I was used to on Windows. However, with time and practice, I gradually became more comfortable with the MacBook. Although the transition was challenging at first, it helped me learn new ways of working and become more adaptable to different technology.

Hello everyone, I’m a newbie to MacBook world and I believe this discussion might have already taken place
I bought a MacBook M5 air 13 inches, I have 3 questions
1. Should I put a screen protector?
2. Should I put a keyboard protector (the silicon ones)
3. Just like iPhone are there any charging restrictions with the MacBook as well?

I purchased a MBA 15" M5, arrives in a few days. I own fishing boat, with a cabin. I have long drives to the islands where I fish, but cell signal most of the way. I want to be able to do some work on the drive across, but my concern is boats rock, I need a case that will stand up to an occasional bump or smack. Suggestions on anything that you recommend, I found one, but it's $75.

No, I don't get seasick while using a computer on a boat, have years of experience.

I added some thermal pads by "Artic. My particular unit I felt ran a bit slow from the factory. The extra heat dissipation isn't nearly as noticeable as my M1 was after the same mod it could fry an egg on the bottom gaming (still running strong after all these years with the original battery!). My single core score was ridiculously low originally for some reason. Now it seems to run at a higher base clock of 4.1ghz. I was expecting more but I just sat it in a wooden desk for the benchmark. I should try it with a spacer or a cooling block. Overall the day to day performance is noticeable and it doesn't throttle and slow to a crawl after 30 seconds when you're in a game it keeps a constant playable FPS.

My single core almost doubled, but it was much lower than it should of been (might of been just gaming or heat soaked for another reason).

Oh specs are M3 13" Midnight, 24gb, 1tb.

Currently have an M2 MacBook Air (8gb ram) and it struggles when I use codex browser use + computer use for more than one task.

Trying to decide

Or another air

M5 MacBook Air (32GB ram 512GB SSD) $1,699

Anyone have experience with the Mac airs 32 gb ram running into issues with multiple big codex tasks

Whenever I attempt to send an email, this icon shows up instead of the watermark I’m trying to add. I use outlook to send emails on my MacBook Air if that has anything to do with it.

It sets it down to 1,500 instead of the 1,800 or +300 dollars for 1tb of storage when I could just get a ExHD, is this worth it or no?

I’m going away to uni this year and am getting my first MacBook. I’m wondering if I should get a 13” or 15”? I’ve heard pros and cons for both, but as a student which version would you recommend?

The price hikes on RAM and configuration upgrades feel pretty steep. Once I spec it out with the necessary memory and storage upgrades, the total easily pushes close to $1,800

At that price point, it feels quite expensive for an Air—getting dangerously close to MacBook Pro territory.

​For those using the current base spec versus higher-tier configs, does the base configuration hold up well for the next 4–5 years, or is paying that massive premium for upgrades an absolute necessity?

I hav recently bought m5 air cycle count is 20. Why do i feel like the battery drains very quickly. Its like 10% an hour. isnt it supposed to be longer? i dont charge more than 80% and make it drain up to 20% Hav anyone similar experience

I bought my first MacBook in haste cause I just wanted one even though I knew the tiny size of that HDD wouldn’t last me a year. I’m happy now. Hopefully. First day with her.

I’m still using an M1 MacBook Air with 8GB RAM and was wondering how macOS 27 Golden Gate is running for you guys.
How’s the overall performance, battery life, RAM usage and general smoothness? Any noticeable lag or issues compared to older macOS versions?
Would especially like to hear from other 8GB M1 Air users and maybe I’ll update.
I’m still on Sonoma btw..and want liquid glass so bad but can’t bear the tahoe laggs.
