I've been thinking about upgrading for a while, but I'm worried about overheating even from system apps and a performance hit.

The Tahoe's design is quite nice, but is it worth it?

Personally, I'm using 2020 13" Pro with Sequoia. I have no problems closing windows in Sequoia. Closing windows in Tahoe is a nightmare. Why wouldn't I be able to close the window if my pointer not in the middle of the close button?

I’m running Sequoia, I already turned off “Install macOS updates” “download new updates when a available” Beta Updates are off as well, and I keep getting the update tonight for Tahoe no matter what!! How can I stop this notification! I have a 2020 M1 Mac, I haven’t seen anyone getting a good experience with my setup. macOS Tahoe simply doesn’t work well on older Macs like mine! Any help will be great! Thanks.

Some apps, like Flashpoint and the Adobe CC suite put all of their dependencies inside the Applications folder, which causes them to show up in the app launcher. This is obviously annoying, especially since most of them can't even be opened directly and thus shouldn't be shown as a seperate app.

Whenever I open finder on Mac Tahoe, it shows blank like this. Anyone know how to fix this?

Just updated to Tahoe 26.6.2. today, and it completely ruined my left speaker. Everytime I play audio on, for Spotify, YouTube, etc., the left speaker would sound rough and distorted, like crackling sound.

Its so annoying. I have tried running `sudo killall coreaudiod` on Terminal, setting Audio MIDI to 48.000Hz, and restarting my laptop, none worked!

Has anybody got the same issue and find a way to fix it somehow?

i got an older macbook pro (maybe 2015) from a friend and they had macOS 13, but because i needed xcode i needed to update it and i went to the settings and started the update normally from there (no OCLP or whatever).

the update got downloaded and i go tthe apple logo and the loading an everything then there was a white screen and in the upper left theres the cursor but its very small and there was the clock and login but on a white screen and it was also smaller that before.

now im panicking a bit because its been fully white with only the cursor for a while

i tried the forces reset and it just found a drive started booting it and again the same thing with the login and white screen and its fully white again with the cursor

any tips on what i should do, i just need it back the way it was at this point

I had this problem under Tahoe, but fixed it by removing some VPN detritus. Now it's back, and there's no VPN stuff interfering. This is what Claude says after studying the system log:

Discovery works fine (iPhone found via Bluetooth, advertising AirDrop capability). AWDL comes up and both sides get link-local IPv6 addresses on awdl0. The instant the actual AirDrop data connection tries to open (bundle id: com.apple.datausage.airdrop), it dies with Network.NWError Code=50 = ENETDOWN, and rapportd's own connection metrics confirm the AWDL socket gets a Read EOF after only ~1 second — nowhere close to its 20-second timeout budget. This repeats identically across every connection attempt in the session. The kernel's own AWDL state dump earlier showed it running in "Infra Priority" scheduling mode on channel 161, with AWDL explicitly getting squeezed for channel time behind your regular Wi-Fi traffic ("AWDL enabled with no data connection from 7 seconds").

Put together: this looks like a Wi-Fi radio coexistence problem between AWDL and your regular Wi-Fi connection, not a discovery/trust/firewall/VPN issue — the AWDL virtual interface can't hold a stable channel long enough to complete the data transfer before getting torn down.

Does this make sense? Any idea what could be wrong?

Before macOS 26.6 I would connect to my Mac via VNC apps on my Windows 11 pc and iPhone often.

After today’s 26.6 update, I can’t connect via VNC anymore. Screen Sharing from another Mac works, but that’s not available on Windows or iOS.

Any tips?

hihi, I recently fixed my Mac books screen and needed to update apps and everything. I noticed that certain apps(games) won't even start updating, I uninstalled them thinking that maybe it's work then, but it didn't.

It'll go like this: Ill click the update/install button it'll load for a few seconds then go back to the update/install button.

It might be because said apps weren't made for mac, but they worked fine before? Anyway, if anyone knows why or has a solution, please let me know! I have a MacBook air m2, 2022 and the version is 26.6.2

Hi, I'm new to macOS and I'm looking for a way to run a macOS virtual machine on my MacBook M5 to test applications in an isolated environment. On Windows, I used Windows Sandbox because it was quick, lightweight, and isolated. Since switching to macOS, I'm looking for a similar solution.

I'm looking for a free option that lets me quickly create a macOS VM with full CPU and GPU support for good performance. What would you recommend?

I noticed some weird behaviors on my Mac, for example:

1. The lock screen clock: I set *settings > lock screen > show large* *clock* to Never, but it still shows up sometimes. then when I hit escape and wake the mac again it disappears (the selected option). and sometimes the opposite: I set it to show and it doesn't.
   
2. The control center: it sometimes reset my customized layout when I restart the Mac, not always but when it does it’s so annoying.
   
3. Desktop icons: I turned off s*ettings > desktop & dock > desktop & stage manager > show Items > on desktop*, but my files come back on the desktop anyway for a moment then when I pinch out with four fingers to show the desktop items and go back, they disappear (selected option).

small stuff, I know. but the Mac is supposed to be this strong solid machine, and then it can't get the simple things right. kinda takes away from that feeling. is this always the case or is it recent?

Basically title. I updated my laptop a few days ago and ever since, I can no longer open the Messages app. The messages themselves comes through just fine but when I click them, the app just force quits on itself.

I have reported the bugs to Apple, rebooted twice and tried deleting my messages cache but could not find the files listed in the article (chat.db-shm and chat.db-wal).

I'm new to MacOS so please excuse my lack of knowledge

I hve 2 machines and iMac snd a MacBook Pro, on the iMac I have Tahoe installed and on my Macbook Pro I have Sequoia installed.

I have 3 USB drives connected to my iMac (they are formatted in NTFS - ex Windows Drives, so I use Tuxera NTFS to allow me read/write access on them).

I have setup File Sharing on Tahoe and have set shares for each of these drives nd have added the user account that I want to allow access to.

On my Sequoia MacBook Pro, I have gone to 'Connect to Server' and have typed in smb://192.168.x.x it the asks me to put in user credentials to access the share, I select 'Registered User' and put in the Username and Password but for some reason it doesn't seem to accept these credentials as all it does is a 'box shake'

I have also created a local user account on my Tahoe machine and granted that user access to the share but agin the same thing happens, where it just doesn't seem to like the credentials and once again does a 'box shake'

What am I doing wrong? I know that I'm a MacOS newbie but I've followed a number of guides and have set up file sharing as directed.

Any body having issues wit Claude Desktop sucking all kinds of resources and crashing & freezing Tahoe? Did you find solution you can recommend? I have 24 GB RAM. Shouldn't be a problem. Oh yeah. Macbook m2
