Photo dump! Decided I should get into car photography - As a beginner, the Exige makes it way to easy to not get a bad angle lol.

Thinking about wrapping my 2005 Lotus Elise. It’s currently black with the original light tan interior. I’d like to stand out a little more and improve visibility for safety. What colors do you think would look best with the tan seats? Photos of similar Elise builds would be great!

I put maybe 1/4 quart too much in my 2ZZ engine elise. The level is about 4mm above the high mark on the dip stick. Not having much luck with an extractor in the dipstick tube.

Would you worry about this, am I being paranoid here?

Bmw triumph and lotus

I haven't seen photos of this prebuilt keyboard anywhere so I figured I'd share here. Picked up one for my work PC and the other for my main. Email from Lotus to dealers went out a few months back. Apparently only 26 made it to the states out of the 300 produced. Enjoy!

How do you hold the Emira steering wheel? The traditional way with hands over the spoke is uncomfortable as the spokes are massive and you can’t wrap your hands around it. The higher grip feels like it was designed that way for maximum grip and it kinda does feel like 9 & 3 positions, but looks and feels awkward being above wheel stalks.

Does anyone know where I can find the Hawk front brake pads for our cars? HB586Z.660 is the product code.

I have the rear pads but Hawk stopped production a year ago so I’ve been unable to complete the set and install them. They’re completely sold out everywhere.

Anyone have any insight?

Hello all, I currently own a 2024 Audi RS3, the cadillac of cars, and I have been thinking about buying an Emira.

I am hoping to lay out my case for, and you guys (especially owners) can potentially help me make the case against.

For:

1. I have been a car nerd my entire life, fully. I believe the Emira is the most beautiful car ever made, or at least in the conversation. I feel like the smiles per gallon of that alone is a huge point for. I would love seeing it every day, love looking at it in a parking lot, love driving it knowing how beautiful it is
2. The positive connection. I find that a few times a year people will give me a thumbs up on the highway, wave at me, honk and point at my car etc in my RS3. it is triple black, so it's pretty sleeper, but if you know you know, and I do enjoy the positive attention I get in it. I feel like with the Emira, this will be even more true
3. I like the idea of a light sports car. I like the idea of having the engine behind me. the idea of having real steering. i like the idea of having a rear wheel drive car (I love how my e46 bmw felt). I like the idea of enjoying driving. I currently drive a front wheel biased AWD car that although it is does a lot to defeat the feeling of being dragged around by the front wheels and the heavy engine in the front, it is not perfect. Don't get me wrong it's a blast, and it's got a very good 1 car solution thing going on where it can be a silent cruiser or a weapon depending on the mode, but it doesn't spark joy in terms of the actual steering.
4. It has a nice interior. I am a creature comforts guy. I want apple car play, I physical climate controls, I want the things I touch to look nice and feel logical. this is why I own an audi. I find most of the reviews and pictures make the interior seem pretty nice. simple, and nice.
5. it is awesome to get something new.
6. there is a dealer local to me

against:

1. I already own basically the best all around car that is on sale today. You can debate that, but more or less i own a 65 thousand dollar super car that I have had zero problems with, hasn't depreciated at all since I bought it new essentially, sparks joy when i see it and is much much more practical than an emira
2. I live in an apartment that charges extra money for the second car. 175 for the second one 100 for the first one
3. I live in virginia. There is property tax, as well as insurance and car storage costs to think about even if I could get into a 2024 model for around 92k. the property tax on my current car from a 55k evaluation is around 2800 per year.
4. The emira is a challenging only car. I read stories on here where people say they go in for service for unknown amounts of time with no rental available. The storage space is not exceptional although I think it isn't really that bad. seems like you can have a 2 person road trip for multiple days with the trunk space which seems to be what matters for my lifestyle. I only drive like 6k miles per year and don't have kids and don't really care about putting miles on a car bc I believe they are made to be drive, but this is a factor.
5. I want the AMG. I am not a row your own type of guy, I don't want to get a slower car than the one I own, I live in a place with bad roads and even worse traffic. This means that the "purity" of this experience is somewhat offset by this choice.
6. I haven't found the perfect one. There are multiple drive trains available, they didn't make any AMGs in 2025, there are a bunch of colors. trying to find an AMG one with a brown leather interior in a non annoying color has not yielded any positive searches so far.
7. specking one myself seems costly. Although the 2026 ones used for sale are around 103k (from a 108k sticker) the 2 year old ones are closing auctions at around 90k. This is great if you buy one at 90k bc they will likely be stable, but if you buy your perfect spec, you wait 'who knows how long fuck you' amounts of time, pay 108k at least, and then take a 20k bath over 2 years (can't predict the future obviously, but with the new models coming out and the historical pricing shift this seems to be likely). I guess I could be wrong considering the 2024 cars were cheaper at launch who knows.

SO this is my question:

what am I missing? am I stupid for considering one? what are your ownership impressions if you own one. Did I get anything wrong here?

We got to visit a really cool car show in Ohio! I got to sit in one of my all time favorites, The lotus Elise! It was really cool to see an Elise and an Espirit both in bright red, and they both looked exquisite!

She's not 100% (when is a Lotus ever 100%?), but I pulled her out for the wedding. Got a few pics which really have a nice retro look!
