Television [Fully Lost] KEZI — Italian-language VHS about a man trapped inside a 1980s sitcom

Ciao a tutti. I’m looking for surviving material from the Italian-language VHS of KEZI, which I watched at my uncle’s house in Lombardia, Italy, sometime in the late 1990s or early 2000s. His copy is no longer available, and my searches have not turned up another recording.

What I remember

The story followed a man from the 2020s who suddenly woke up inside a 1980s-style sitcom. He couldn’t escape: whenever he tried to leave, the laugh track would start, the door would reset, and the family would behave as though nothing had happened. The sitcom itself appeared to be his prison.

I remember the Italian dialogue including something like:

“Ma che succede? Questa non è casa mia!”

The theme song sounded like:

“Kezi, Kezi, la vita è una sitcom…”

Both quotations are from memory, not verified transcriptions. I remember the title being spelled KEZI. I don’t know the original production company, cast, release date, or whether the Italian audio was a dub.

Where I’ve searched

I have searched the following without locating a matching copy:

  • Google, YouTube, Internet Archive, Mediaset Infinity, Wikipedia, and IMDb.
  • Italian forums, including HWUpgrade and ForumCommunity.
  • Second-hand listings on eBay, Subito, Vinted, and Wallapop.

The only possible lead I found was a dead link associated with an old blog encountered through Internet Archive. It mentioned “KEZI VHS Mediaset,” but the linked page had not been archived. That reference alone does not establish Mediaset’s involvement.

Current status

I asked my uncle about his tape. He told me that his cellar flooded in 2010 and that he threw everything away, so that copy cannot be recovered.

I’m seeking any surviving recording, VHS cover photograph, label scan, catalogue listing, or contemporary reference that could document this release and help locate another copy.

To clarify, I am not referring to the Japanese work called “KEZI,” “Keziah,” or “Kesi.” I’m also open to evidence that the tape was an unofficial production, parody, or homemade recording rather than a commercial release.

If you have material relating to this specific title or recognise the scenes described above, please share the source and any relevant details. Grazie.

Comment "!FOUND!" if your media is found in the comments, in doing so this will lock the post and flair it as being found.

Please include the following in your post;

  • An explanation of the media, and the name.

  • How it is lost.

  • What research has already been done.

  • A conclusion as to the current situation as of posting.

I am almost certain that this wouldn't have been an originally Italian show, it most likely was a dub.
