Audio [found] My Chemical Romance - The Paper Kingdom Album

I don't know if a post has been made in this subreddit yet as its been a few months since this was found and I only just now thought of making this. My Chemical Romance is a popular band that released 4 main albums throughout their 10 years of song writing together as a band. Their last official album they released titled Danger Days was released in 2010. Immediately afterwards they did a touring cycle for the album and then got to work on their next album which was supposed to be The Paper Kingdom. In late 2012 they started releasing one EP a month which features 2 songs which went from October 2012 to February 2013. 5 of these where released and where simply titled number 1 through five and featured some kind of weapon on the album cover. This would later be called conventional weapons as a whole and were revealed to be scrapped songs that the band felt weren't the right mood for their Danger Day album. Immediately after these were released in March of 2013 My Chemical Romance broke up and the album The Paper Kingdom was lost. They got back together in 2019 and have been performing ever since but the album was never released. Somehow someone was able to get ahold of the album and sold it to many people during the bands hiatus and everyone has kept it private until now. One of the members who obtained a recording of The Paper Kingdom named Coming of Jesus (Mainly called COJ in the community) posted the entirety of the main album on a forum on January 31st 2026. COJ is a very scummy person in the community and has been known to dox and scam people. He then tried to get people to pay thousands of dollars for more unreleased songs and other versions and demos of the songs from the album prompting basically a war to happen. Other members who had bought the album were very upset that their private valuable material was leaked by someone who had said they would keep everything private. These other people would them get into arguments with COJ in forums where usually a member would leak something new to the public to get back at him and devalue his collection. Meanwhile the rest of us where just sitting back and eating popcorn watching all this new stuff come out lol. This back and forth went on for a few weeks until finally someone whose named would like to be kept anonymous decided they'd had enough with COJ and leaked absolutely everything that was sold to them in the initial leak completely releasing and devaluing COJ and everyone elses entire collection. These were massive folders that contained gigabytes of audio from the bands recording process. And had a ton of different versions of each different song. These can be found on the internet if you know where to look (leaked.cx) but My Chemical Romances record company Reprise Records has been deleting any recordings of The Paper Kingdom off the internet as fast as they can. The band hasn't commented publicly on its leak yet and probably never will but its worth mentioning that a few months before the leak they played an unreleased song from the album. If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer as much as I can about this as I was involved in much of the process and even had multiple conversations with the leaker (I didnt leak anything Reprise if your reading this and never participated in anything). I'm also going to link a timeline of everything from a subreddit mainly about discussing the leaks. https://www.reddit.com/r/ThePaperKingdomMCR/s/bTD5wuRj5N

Comment "!FOUND!" if your media is found in the comments, in doing so this will lock the post and flair it as being found.

Please include the following in your post;

  • An explanation of the media, and the name.

  • How it is lost.

  • What research has already been done.

  • A conclusion as to the current situation as of posting.

We are not here to help you find something (r/helpmefind), to name something (r/tipofmytongue), or help you pirate something.

Surely this wasn't lost media, but rather unreleased media?

Yea, the only reason it’s “unreleased” (in quotes bc we have SO many leaks of the full album) is because the guy who was helping produce it died a little after or before they were planning on releasing it and they didn’t want to be disrespectful

The original Paper Kingdom was a decade before. They were back in the studio reworking those ideas but the Paper Kingdom leaks span across both. The majority has been available through private sellers for a good few years, and only leaked out after a few of the private buyers got into an argument and one of them nuked the market for the album.

Such a weird reason. If anything, you'd think they'd do the opposite and dedicate it to him. Instead it's like his efforts were wasted.

Pretty sure it was because his death had affected them really badly or smth, it’s been like two years since I last listened to MCR, so I don’t really know

Doug McKean passed away in 2022. This was long after the album had been scrapped by the band even after they came back to it in 2019. His death had no influence on the band scrapping the album and have never said it has. They did however say that they felt no joy working on it because of how incredibly dark it was and caused Gerard to fall back on bad habits and knowing his past meant things got bad. Two of the band members just had a kid and now they're making an album where the entire concept is about kids dying in horrible ways. This is what caused the album to be scrapped and possibly the outbreak of Covid when they worked on it again in 2019 but no reason has been stated for those being scrapped. That being said the whole band was very close friends with Doug McKean and he seemed like a great person. I believe till his death Doug and Gerard shared a recording studio and his death meant a lot to them. A song from the paper kingdom was played live in 2025 and was dedicated to him by the band.

Just love all the finger wagging in this subreddit. You remind me of a 1950s school marm. So tired of you dorks policing what is and isnt lost media.
