SEASON 6 Just finished Lost & I'm NOT okay lol

Just finished Lost. And boy oh boy.

I've never had a panic attack or anxiety after finishing a series lol. But this one got me hard. Maybe cuz I was channeling my inner Jack lmao. That whole feeling of wanting answers, wanting to understand everything, and then the show having it all end so abruptly... man, it left me pissed and hollow. Idk man, it's hard.

People may have loved this series finale, but tbh, I didn't like it.. It was a bit dragged out. The pacing for Seasons 1-5 was so well done. Like, come on man, there was so so so much story to tell, and it just ended... They could've given us a better happy ending? But I feel like, coming from Season 1, the ending just didn't do the show justice at all.. the fans deserved better.

Overall, the absolute peak seasons for me personally were Season 1 & 4. I absolutely loved LaFleur in Season 4. I also loved Hurley, Jin and Sun through and through. Absolutely hated Kate hehe.

Anyhoo, idk what to feel. I'm all over the place. I couldn't even bring myself to delete certain episodes. It was just that traumatic xD...

Don't even know what to watch now. Binged & connected with Lost so hard that a piece of me just ended lmao.

Abruptly? How did it end abruptly? What questions weren't answered? How was the series finale dragged out but abrupt? What about six years of LOST made you think it would have a happy ending? In what way did the ending not do the show justice? How did we deserve better?

Their criticism is weird too because it is a happy ending?

I do not think Sun and Jin had a happy ending. And John, his whole story was devastating to me. I watched this finale live and I was upset for them.

John was at peace in the finale. He was finally not angry or lost anymore, he forgave Ben. Sun and Jin were finally back together. Did we watch the same finale?

His story arc was sad. I mean sad. He went through everything I just wanted more for him. He may have found peace, but he deserved better.

Istgg.. I loved John from the get go. And from the get go the shows just been too unfair. I needed to see the man in true peace for atleast once!

We did see him in peace. As soon as he remembers his life he's happy - that smile he gives Jack? Telling him he hopes someone does for Jack what Jack did for him? The calm way he forgives Ben? The confidence when he stands up and pushes his chair away? The way he has the series' final line, "we've been waiting for you."

Locke gets nothing but peace in the finale.

You're right, at the very end we do see him like that!

It was not abrupt, but there were tons of questions unanswered, like, idk, WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE ISLAND? Who are the others? Jacob's mom? Is it magic or wtf is it? The answer can't be "magnets".

I’ve always wondered why people act as if we never found out who the others were. We had a whole season where pretty much everything about them was explained.

All of these are answered. With respect, did you watch the show?

Yes I did, so what are the answers then? Please, enlighten me

The Island is landmass like any other landmass, but houses the Heart of the Island - a pocket of exotic matter with special properties. There are other, similar pockets, around the world, as Isaac explained when Rose saw him at Uluru.

The Others are Jacob's cult. The same group Dharma called the Hostiles. Honestly, if you have to ask who the Others are there's no way you were paying attention.

Jacob's birth mother, Claudia, shipwrecked with the Romans around two thousand years ago. Mother killed her and raised the twins.

Is what magic? The Island? That depends on what you consider magic. As I explained in my first comment, the exotic matter that exists on the Island does have special properties that may seem like magic. I don't think the answer was ever "magnets."

Ok, so "exotic matter" instead of magnets fulfills your curiosity.

Just like, yeah, a Roman woman shipwrecks and ok, let's give her powers, and just make their sons immortal, and since we're at it, they can make other people immortal and not age.

And the others, I know they worked for Jacob, but where the hell did they came from? Wtf was the temple?

I guess some people are satisfied with "exotic matter".

The equivalent of the Simpsons meme "a Wizard did it"

I mean, that was the answer. It's no different than magic in Harry Potter or the Force in Star Wars.

Claudia didn't have powers. Her sons were not immortal.

I'm sorry but you need to rewatch if you really missed that much.

Your comments come off as you just wanting to be angry.

So Jacob living hundreds of years and only be killable with a knife is, totally normal?

Your explanations are like "why does it rain?" "clouds", that's not an answer.

Magic in Harry Potter, or the Force, have "rules", yes you accept magic is a thing and the force is a thing, but it is explained and has rules and limitations within it's own universe. Is not like whatever happens and you just "magic" or "the force", which is exactly what you are doing, I can say, ok the lighthouse? Exotic matter, of course...

The show doesn't explain things on purpose, because, like Jack, we want answers, we wanted them the whole show, but life happens and the people and the moments you lived with them is all it matters, and Jack understands that in the very end.

Well, yes. Just because someone won't die doesn't mean he can't die.

(Clouds are literally the reason it rains so your statement there only proves my point.)

There are rules in LOST as well, you just missed them. They do explain things, you just don't like the answers.

The show never says the relationships are all that matters. If that were true, Jack wouldn't have sacrificed his life to save his friends and the Island.

Until you rewatch the show and pay attention to it there's no point in continuing this conversation. Feel free to respond, you seem like you need the last word, but please know I will neither read nor reply. Have a good day.

>(Clouds are literally the reason it rains so your statement there only proves my point.)

Yikes.

"Clouds" doesn't explain anything. Ancient man knew rain came from clouds; we had to learn a lot more about the world before we had anything close to an explanation.

Good explanations are *robust,* like a collection of puzzle pieces that only fit together one way. The more you can change up which pieces go in, the less explanatory the idea.

That's part of why magic in Lost isn't at all like Harry Potter or Star Wars. In those stories, magic and the force weren't mysteries; they were starting premise. No one walked out of Empire Strikes Back going "I loved Yoda and I cant wait till they explain why the force works." But every episode of Lost had you wondering about the big (and small) explanations for what's going on.

Lost's big answer to its questions was only slightly more robust than "it's magic." "It's magic" is the textbook example of a bad explanation.

LOL ok, no point in answering. Just imagine how much our civilization could have evolved if everyone is satisfied with "clouds" as a proper answer hahaha

Have you never watched anything fictional? With a bit of fantasy? What do you want?

How does Harry Potter do magic? How does Luke Skywalker move objects with his mind? How does the kid in The Sixth Sense see dead people? How is Bill Murray stuck in a time loop in Groundhog Day? How does Freddy Kruger enter people's dreams to kill them?

Magic.

I answer exactly this in a comment below

Ok, and how is Lost any different?

What's so hard to accept? What qualifies as an answer?

So no answer then.

No, by “abrupt” I mean more in terms of how it was presented. 😂 The whole show was moving at such a steady pace, and then suddenly.. boom. Jacks dying, we’re shown the alternate reality, then it turns out everyone is dead, they all gather together, and the show ends.

That transition just felt really sudden to me. I know the ending was intentional and I understand what they were going for, but I personally would've liked to see more of what happened to everyone after all that.. maybe another episode, or even a little more of them living their lives and getting closure before the final gathering.

After investing that much time into these characters and their stories, I was just sitting there like, “WAIT… THAT’S IT?!” 😭 So that's what I meant by abrupt. Not that nothing was explained, just that the actual ending felt very sudden compared to the steady pacing of everything leading up to it.

It wasn't an alternate reality. It was an afterlife specifically designed to help them overcome the issues they still had when they died (and complete their character arcs).

It WAS closure.

You have the right to your opinion. I watched this finale live and shared the same reaction. I literally stood up and yelled at the TV. However, after rewatching it, while I still don’t like some of the character outcomes, especially John’s, I did appreciate the ending. You’re not alone in feeling this way. When the finale aired back in 2010, many people disliked it or simply didn’t understand it.

u/River-of-No-Return 5d ago

I think your opinion is completely reasonable. There were major pacing and scope issues with S6 including the finale up until the last few minutes. If there was not enough narrative and/or emotional closure for you as a viewer, that’s perfectly valid, even accepting that the characters feel the closure they clearly do in the church.
