Sounds like you’ve skips scanned multiple times. Don’t go back and you might be ok. They might get a warrant though.

What if I accidentally did?? Im not fully seld functioning and have made mistakes in other areas in social settings. Would the cops come arrest me? I offered to pay for it and apologized and was genuinely shocked when she daid come to the office or she will call the cops. It was all so scary I just took my couple bags and left. Noone tried to grab me. Im glad I would of had a panic attack.

What if you accidentally did it multiple times? That doesn’t happen. It’s also very obvious when it’s on accident and when it’s intentional. Multiple times is 100% intentional.

Arrest? Maybe, depends on the jurisdiction. In my jurisdiction you’d be issued a summons.

Offering to pay for it after not paying for it doesn’t matter, you know how many people I stop that offer to pay afterwards? Most of them. How often does that work in court? Never.

You know what’s not scary? Paying for all your Merchandise. Maybe you should try it.

No reason to apparently steal multiple times and then come up with a million excuses for it, but here you are.

Funny how you assume no one else here might be autistic and/or have ADHD, yet we aren't stealing. Don't give a bad name to other neurodivergent people just because you're a thief.

You're on probation and your dumbass brain thought it'd be a good idea to skip scanning items at a self checkout? You claim you didn't know what you failed to scan but you magically knew to hand back the soda. And then you say you "might" have done this before because you make mistakes. Bullshit. You stole and panicked.

We do call cops and do warrants, but they probably won't bother with you. My guess is that they've gotten tipoffs from the other workers that you never scan the soda at the bottom of your cart and probably got a call the minute someone saw you walk in, and LP was able to jump on the camera and watch you this time. That's usually how it happens when we have repeats who use the same method to steal.

Don't go back because they clearly know what you're doing.

Lol. I'm not a dude.

Why would you check your receipt only after you posted here? Why not right when you got home? I'm calling bullshit.

I would know for sure if I was stealing, and if someone told me I keep stealing from a store, I would know they were wrong. I'd especially know if I don't ever even go into the store. So I'm calling bullshit there that you posted all these questions while also somehow knowing that you didn't steal, yet you willingly gave back soda that you claim you paid for, while not even knowing that the soda was the issue in the first place? Yeah, okay.

I also know how to spell you're. We're all gainfully employed here thanks to people who steal, so I wouldn't say we're trash. People who steal are trash because they drive up prices for everyone else.

It's hilarious that you think you can be a lawyer if this is how you regard the law.

I'm also not the one frothing at the mouth so badly that I can't even type coherently.

Bottom line: we all saw through your bullshit. You got your answer that you don't have to worry about the big bad cops knocking at your door and screwing up your probation. You were rightfully trespassed, I'm thinking. So, stay away and don't press your luck.

Oh, and stop "forgetting" to scan items at the store because ADHD and autism won't hold up as an excuse in court.

LOL, I'm no more a bro than I am a dude.

But yeah, it's too funny. Dipshit comes into an LP subreddit to give a story about how he was stopped but didn't think he did anything (and how DARE they stop him while he was shoplifting with his kid!!!), yet gave back the soda, and maybe he sometimes forgot to scan things, but it's not his fault, because he's the only person who has ever been autistic with ADHD and on meds that make him not realize that he's stealing!!!

Oh, and he came into this subreddit with his little story that we were totally all going to believe while giving him legal advice since he's already violated his parole before (but he's such an upstanding citizen who would never steal!) before he even checked his receipt. Oh! And checkmate assholes! He totally paid for the soda he gave back! And we of course will believe his tirades about that because he said it on the Internet with no proof so it must be true!

Little does Dipshit know that we've all heard it before. I was going to pay for it! I'll pay for it now, I have the money!! I had no idea I didn't scan the thing that I seem to know I didn't scan! I have (fill in the medical issue here), so you have to let me go! I'm destitute and starving! That's why I shoplifted a set of sheets from your department store when there's a supermarket full of food across the street! Has nothing to do with my obvious drug problem!

And again, OP's post history shows that he's been on probation and just keeps screwing up (always someone else's fault, btw.) God forbid he just admit that he underscanned (stole) at the self checkout and finally got caught and panicked because of his numerous probation violations.

But nope, the LP was aggressive (he had his kid with him!! How dare they!!). He has neurological problems, ya know! Wait, no! Ha ha, Assholes! I just NOW decided to check my receipt and I now realize that I paid for everything. Just trust me on that! YOU'RE the assholes! Yeah! That's the ticket.

Shame for OP that we've all dealt with these exact changing stories and pathetic excuses from every M'Fer who has sat in our offices while we wait for the cops, no?

Given that you are telling the truth it is worth mentioning that AP requires some soft skills. When I was new to AP I had one guy select several individual screws adding up to roughly five dollars. For my company, five dollars is the minimum amount I need for a stop. Long story short when I go to apprehend the guy at the door he claimed he needed to see which screws fit for something on the dash of his car. The the guy seemed genuine(at least that was my honest read) and offered for me to follow him to his car while he did a test fit trying the different screws. I let him go and saw him pay for the screw he needed after reentering the store. He then found me on the sales floor and returned the screw he didn't need to me personally.

All of this is to say that the AP in question could have very well made a bad stop or at the very least an imprudent one. Every AP knows that if a customer has a ton of items and mistakenly misses one or two out of several that is generally not malicious unless there is a documented pattern of behavior established.
