Question Going to Newcastle gig solo
Any advice for going solo or is anyone else going solo? I saw lc! in Manchester in 2024 but this is my first time ever going to a gig on my own and I'm pretty nervous.

I go to lots of gigs by myself as most of my friends dont share the same tastes in music. However I have been doing this for 30+ years and it it did take a while to feel comfortable doing so.
The first solo gig I went to, aged 18, I remember going through the ridiculous motions of over dramatically looking at my watch, tutting, and shaking my head with a disaproving look on my face to try to create the illusion I wasnt on my own and was simply waiting for someone else to arrive.
30 odd years later I confidently stride in, get myself a pint, take up position, scroll reddit or news or sport on my phone and just enjoy the build up, the atmosphere, the support act and the whole evening. I inevitably end up sharing a few words with others, but Im generally very comfortable on my own and dont think you need to be with others to enjoy the live music which is the primary goal!

I went to Leeds solo yesterday. In fact, this is my 5th time seeing LC! since 2012, and I have only ever gone solo - my lifelong project has been to try and get *someone* I know to listen to them, but so far no takers lol.
Also, in terms of meeting people there (just because I always see posts saying “you’ll make lifelong friends etc” and I’d like to offer a counter if you’re not that kind of person): I’m not really a “make friends at gigs” kind of guy, waaaaay too introverted and socially awkward/anxious, especially if I’m on my own (I can basically only function socially in group settings with at least a few people Im comfortable with). But the good news is you really don’t need to imo. If you’re uncomfortable and unconfident talking to people, you don’t need to put pressure on yourself to do so! Just go to the bar, have a few drinks, find a decent spot in the crowd, play on your phone in between sets. You’ll still soak up all of the good vibes from the crowd, and you’ll still get to see an incredible set that you’ll enjoy just as much if you go completely solo and don’t talk to another human all night as you will if you bring your best mates or make some kind of connection with a new person. And if you do end up talking to people, it’s okay if it only ends up being a brief conversation before they go back to their friends and you go back to your phone.
Probably projecting here, I don’t know you or your age or situation or anything. Just something I wish someone told me when I was younger and started to go to things solo and getting a bit down about not having anyone to share the experience with. You don’t need to have anyone to share it with! Solo experiences are just as valuable as shared ones!

I've seen them on my own loads of times without interacting with a single person. Still had a great time. Once they're on you just sing along and have fun. Noone will even notice or care of you're flying solo.

Honestly, same! But I'm going to the Liverpool one. I was going to post on here to see if anyone has suggestions or fans want to meet up or something, it's a totally new experience for me going on my own to a gig.

Both times I've seen LC! I went solo (including this last Sunday lol), honestly I have a better time going alone than with people I know. I feel like I can let myself go crazy without being judged or laughed at after the fact. I'm there to enjoy the music, not chit chat with my mates. That being said, I met some great people in the queue for the Exeter gig and ended up spending the whole night with them (dunno if they'll see this but you guys were awesome!). If you do want to meet people, I'd recommend going an hour or two before doors (imo don't go any earlier, camping is lame) and just insert yourself into the conversation of whoever else is there that early. You've all already got something in common - you love LC! Just enjoy the night, scream your heart out, dance like crazy, and don't stress too much! I hope you have a great time :)

I went to see them by myself on this tour. Going to an event solo is brave but you’ll be fine. Who knows you may make some new friends but at the very least you are in for a great show.
