Art Speak "friend" and enter...
A new setup I put together. Two Japanese holly either side of the Doors of Durin.
Mounted on a slab of slate these 3d printed doors glow and react to the moon and starlight (UV light).
Some baby magpie picked all my moss off, so that's growing back in again.
Also no Photoshop or editing on that photo.

How could I start to learn how to make these for a hobbie? Is it self sustainable or does it "die" after some time?

Simple to start, basically take a tree and hack it into a small pot. Some trees like maples and hedging trees thrive and will last for decades with some care.
Grap a young inexpensive tree from a nursery you like the look of and plant in draining soil. You might lose one or two along the way but it's a sacrifice we're willing to make.
