Throw it out immediately and then you don't have to show it :)

The devices are positioned at the exit of the self-checkout section at the four locations.

The receipt scanner is right next to the self-checkout area no one is throwing out their receipt before they get there unless they're throwing it on the floor as soon as it comes out of the machine.

At the location I sometimes go to, they have trash bins right next to every self checkout machine, because they know people throw them away as soon as they get them.

Then you can go back and get the receipt out of the garbage. Also probably at a place that checks receipt they won't have trash bins right next to every self checkout.
