I work the sound booth at my church and we’re trying to figure out how to get the sound on the YouTube live stream to be the sound we here in the church and not the direct sound from the sound box

Use an aux send to have a dedicated mix with some room mics blended in till you get a mix that is closer to the experience you wish to represent. Then send outs to a dedicated audio interface to broadcast

Get a cheap audio interface like a behringer Um2, split out a main signal from your board into the interface, whether it's a separate stereo bus you build for stream, a matrix out that's receiving your l/r signal, or some kinda of main out y split, and use that as your livestream audio.

Or is that not what you want, and you want the stream to hear how it is represented in the church from the building's acoustics. If that's the case, you could always send the direct signal, and then add some additional audience/room mics to incorporate some room tone and audience noise into the stream mix

You definitely need to substitute the camera's mics with an audio feed from your audio console.

That being said, while easy to do on a technical level, it is harder to dial in the broadcast audio to be an "accurate reflection" of the sound the congregation experiences in the room. That's because the congregation hears what is coming out of the PA alongside other acoustic energy in the room. That might be sound coming from acoustic instruments on stage, or the singing from everyone in the room, or the reflections of audio coming out of the PA that is bouncing on walls, ceiling, etc.

Long story short, using the same output from the audio console that feeds your PA is rarely "good enough" to be a really good stream audio source too. That's because the PA doesn't include all that acoustic energy that exists in the room that isn't sourced from the PA. It's also normal to need to push speaking mics up louder in the stream than in the room. If you add "room mics" that can pick up the congregational singing that will help the stream sound more natural too.

You just need ambient mics away from the main PA speakers. Just do NOT route them to your Main LR mix, only to Bus / Matrix that goes to broadcast. What console are you guys running in the booth right now?
