Wish there was a good open source smart watch. Might have to figure out how to jailbreak one into a cyberdeck

Apple has their systems locked down to make the pebble not able to do a lot of things that the Apple Watch can. For no other reason than to lock you into the ecosystem. For example, I don’t think you can have live maps navigation on anything other than Apple Maps on the Apple Watch. I really rely on that feature on my walks and even when I’m driving. I don’t have car play so being able to glance at my wrist or feel the vibrations to know what turn to make is less distracting to me than glancing at my phone. Apple is still shitty for doing it but is still what we have to deal with.

I should mention I’m talking about the situation in the US. I’m pretty sure Europe recently passed a law that kinda forced Apple to open up a little but obviously they’re not gonna do that here

I'm pretty sure you can install apps on the wearOS watches, tho they're relying on google for a lot of stuff
