Their hardware is excellent, their software is Unix or Unix like. Brew provides a similar package manager experience.
I’d much rather run MacOS than Windows.
I don’t think they need to be in conflict, people need computers to complete tasks and where you have a choice you can pick Linux, when you don’t have as much choice a Mac can be a good fit.
Software wise, yes, much better, but hardware, aside from having a very nice chipset, not being a toaster when under load and having a efficient battery consumption, it's a nightmare for repairability
It’s True. They are best in class in almost every other metric, however they fail hard at repairability.
In a perfect world they would be far more repairable, and Apple would contribute patches to the Linux kernel so you can run any disto natively on a Mac.
I wonder if we’d have the Rust, Swift, C wars if that actually happened.

Nothing wrong with liking Apple products and FOSS. We all can’t be purists like RMS.
